Hi iv had my team tc3 for about 2 weeks now. It has a LRP V6 speedo, Reedy Pulse R 10t double motor, and futaba electronics. I have not had a problem with it til this weekend. The motor and speedo have only had around 20-25 runs on them.
Yesterday while i was racing my TC3 at the LHS track i ran two packs through it for practice, and the car handleded great. In the first and second heat i had the second most laps and lapped every one two-three times except for one person.
Heres my problem comes in. About 1 1/2 minutes into the third heat i got into a little scuffle and then my car acted as if the battery was dead. (this was a integy 2000 pack, i knew it wasnt dead) so i brought it in messed around with the motor and took out the brushes and they were very worn so i ran over to hobby town and picked up a set of TRINITY SILVER SERRATED 4WD OR TOURING CAR MODDIFIED BRUSHES. I dropped them in and hooked my motor up to that intigy battery for about 2 minutes to break in the motor. So the Main event came up went out about 1 1/2 minutes into the race it slowed down again as if the bettery was going dead (new 2400 pack in it). and i was also having problems with my gas truck that day to so i just packed up and went home.
After i got home i took my tc3 out and it ran flawlessly. i know later on into the day people were getting alot of glitches, but i dont see how a glitch would caused this. Any one have any ideas on what the problem may be???? DO you think i need stronger springs for the brushes??? i e-mailed AE ut i dont expect and answer for a few days.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

ALWAYS get the comm cut when you replace brushes. Have you had it cut yet?

never, im not going to buy one, the lhs doesnt have one, and jimmy said i dont need it. If jimmy said i dont need it, then i must not need it. Hes been running elelctrics for 14 years and hasnt once cut a comm. ( i think )
Any reasons why my motor is doing this????

I think you need to stop listening to Jimmy... :D
You should also consider the possibility that your charger is false peaking...

I used to get false peaks at the track and not at home, myself. Voltage problem? I don't know, but a better quality charger took care of that for me.
You probably also need some motor maintenance, cut the comm, clean it, re-lube the bearings...so on, so forth

Wow!, ONLY 20 to 25 runs on a 10 double? If Jimmy & a few others do maintainance like that, it's a wonder that everyone doesn't have glitches. A arcing motor will cause all kinds of glithces. I know this to be a fact.
On road must be awfull rasy on coms. A lot off road guys I know, cut low winds after every race, more or less. Cut the com, put in fresh brushes or at least re-cut them.

steve the packs are fully charged. what got me, was when i got home and ran it i had no problem. i dont have $100 for a lathe. im PRETTY SURE its not the come, could it be the springs arent string enough??????? maybe? something besides the comm????

Listen, who says you have to buy a lathe? FIND someone with a lathe, and if no one has one that will cut your comm, then you must be very good with motor maintenance, getting a comm stick, not the rubber ones, the one with the fiberglass ones, and clean the brushes and comm with those, take the armerature out often to spray it down with motor spray, never touch the actual commutator itself(the shiny copper thingy) because the oil on our fingers will make the motor slower.
20-25 runs on a 10 double motor is a ton, it is most definatley your motor, not your batteries.

ok im starting to guess that its the comm, i have a comm stick a hard one, and i think it has fiberglass in it, and motor spray, but i have no idea how to take apart the motor. When i had my buggy i cleaned the motor regularly but since iv been having so much fun with my tc3 (who wouldn't) i have totally forgot about cleaning it. That is totally my fault. But i think (probibly wrong) that the springs are too weak,
So i got two ??? then, I have the comm stick with fiberglass in it i do believe, but what does the comm stick do? Iv never figured it out, im a nitro guy  Does it cut the comm or something?
and how do i disammble the motor? i tried on a ODLER (like 80s) motor but i dont think it capable of being taken apart.
thanks

The comm stick cleans off the gunk on the comm. As the brushes wear, they leave depositis and normally a glaze on the comm, and this slows the motor and prevents a good transmission of electricity. A comm stick is nowhere near is good as actually cutting off the worn out surface of the comm, but will help a ton since it can extend the time the motor will last until you find someone with a lathe.

i cleaned the coom and brushes last night. so i moved a bunch of stuff in my room, and put foam tires on, so was running it was going pretty good, then i barely hit my desk and it stoped.
Every time the motor quites working is when it hits something. so i don't think its the comm, but the motor springs. becuase i tore the motor and pushed both springs back in and it worked. then i losseneda spring on purpose and it did the exact same thing.
Does it sound like the problem is the spring to you all???

Sound like a problem with connections. what connections do you use between bettery and motor?

Not a problem with the springs, it is with the brushes, they seem to not be pushing on them as much as they should be, does your motor get very hot? If so, you all know that metal will weaken after it is heated.
the comm stick that i am talking about, it the one from Trinity, it is called a comm pen i believe, it is a plastic case, and you screw out the fiber glass stuff.
Aussie is right, you should check your connections with your ESC to your motor, is sounds like you are gettin power everywhere else.

no its not the power connections, i have deans ultra plugs for that, and its not the burshes,
A friend better explained to me why the comm needs cut and why every one is saying i need it cut and why it is most liekly cuasing the problem. Thanks for all the help, i guess ill have to dish out $120 for a lathe now.
