i just got my hitec hfx esc in the mail. Since i dont have any other wires the right gauge, i just soldered the esc wires right to the motor. (the red and bule wires like it said) My question is, how do you connect it to the battery with the black wire?(what do you do with it)? Do i cut part of the rubber from the middle of the red wire and make an extension to the connector?
I hope i dont confuse you. :(

Also, i just bought some duratrax powerpole connectors. i have had some trouble on how to connect them to the wire and where to solder.

thank- you for any replies. Kevin

You could get new wires but doing what you said should work. Just solder them well and try to put covering on the soldered joint.

if you have a smaller gauge wire, use that.

wont the smaller gauge cause resistance???

so, i should take a section out of the red wire and solder on an extension w/ a connector and the put a connector on the black wire?

where/how do you solder the little silver thing to the wire?

OK, I'll help.

First, check out this: http://www.rccaraction.com/articles/ht_install_esc.asp

OK? Here are more tips. Yes, cut a section of rubber off the red wire and add a few inches of wire that will connect with your battery. After you solder it on, cover the joint with heatshrink tubing or shoe goo. Now, to install the powerpoles. Strip 1/4" - 3/8" of insulation off the end of the black and red (extension) wires. Twist the exposed wires and push a silver connector onto it (you may have to remove some strands if you're using 12 gauge wire). Now use your soldering iron to make a good connection. Hold the wire with the connector end pointing up, and heat the side of the silver contact piece and feed solder into the small gap on top of the barrel-shaped receptacle. You want the connection to be good and solid, but not with excess solder on the outside of the silver piece, becase it fits into the plastic pieces very tightly.

Any more questions?

when i finally got it all soldered, it went A LOT faster than it did with my xl-1 for some reason. but its great. that link u gave me helped me out a lot.

could i use electrical tape for the covering of the joints???

Yeah, that'll work if you're OK with it. I prefer a cleaner look, though (shrink wrap).
