Using an old radio/servos/receivers

Is there any harm in using old radio equipment (i.e. vintage Futaba Jr. or Kyosho Pulsar 2000) in a new vehicle? I want to get back into rc for bashing purposes, but I don't want to sink a lot of money into it. Any problems that I should be aware of? Would there be any problems eventually entering in the novice class at the local track with old equipment (I doubt I would, but just asking). Thanks for the help.

If you expierence glitching when you go to the local track, I would first try new crystals, otherwise, use away... I really like the older Futaba Jr style radios myself, I have 4 or 5 of them in my stash.

Thanks for the help. I may get an extra set of crystals for the old Magnum Jr. just to be on the safe side.
