I'm a noob,
I used to watch my uncles run these crazy remote control cars everywhere.
I'm not so interested in the cars, but more the trucks.
Where do you start with these things? Does it cost a billion dollars to get into?
Sorry, just so much info, Im not srue where to begin or what my options are...
If you can point me to the noob section or give me soem great advice, I would appreciate it...
THANKS!

To start, if it is adviseable, I would like to pick up something used off of eBay or somewhere. I was looking at the DurTrax Warhead. Looks like it is a little more than I was hoping to spend to get into the game, but looks pretty cool. Not sure if that is over my head to start with or not.
I would just assume go Nitro out of the gates, unless the electric on the higher end cars is better or more advantageous than Nitro. I guess with Nitro you have to buy fuel... not sure about the cost of that though.
You gave me a great place to start though, that site was pretty good, at least pointed me in the right direction...
i will check back here to see if anyone has any other ideas..
THANKS!

well to be honest I would stay away from ebay if your just getting in to the hobby.. especially nitro.. you just never know.. One of the best places to go is a lhs local hobby shop.. you cant beat experience if you have a shop close to you.. I would say a warhead might be more than you'll handle it's a big truck, just havent heard alot on it's durability. The revo, savage, MGT would be a better choice all round..

Welcome aboard WV! I STRONGLY recommend against this if you're new to the hobby. You won't know what to look for in a "bad auction" and there is nothing more disappointing than buying someone else's headaches. Even if the auction is "NIB" you may wind up getting a cheap knockoff when you think you're getting quality. BUY NEW. You get a manual, warranty, instructions, and sometimes tech support that actually helps you. Until you know the groundwork, buying used is a very bad idea.

With electric, the bare minimum to learn is to charge batteries and drive the vehicle, you can start the fun within the hour. With nitro there is a far steeper learning curve, and it can be VERY frustrating to go out 6 or 7 times in a week and not be able to drive once because you don't know how to tune an engine. Then there are maintenance and liability issues, both personal and public. A newbie can blow a nitro engine in the first day. What's the area like you'll be driving in at first, your neighborhood? You can see where that one's going.
Nitro is awesome, love it myself, but can be very frustrating for a beginner. Either one can wind up costing you about the same, and you can get into nitro later if you take a liking to the hobby. Start off with electric. But to answer the question about fuel, most tanks hold around 50-75cc and nitro fuel ranges from $20-$30 per gallon depending on the nitro content and where you get the fuel.
Here's some things to think about (http://www.rc-resources.com/guides/what_to_buy.shtml) when deciding what RC's to get into, sorry for the lack of pics.
