Hi i got a TC3iv been putting double sided tap on my V6 speedo and almost after every run some how the esc becomes loose due to pebbles getting under the tape. I have no idea how this is heppening, it has never happened to me before. Could some one give me some advice on how to stop this from happening?

Well, if you really want to lock it down, I'd suggest using Shoe Goo. just put a layer of it in the spot where the ESC will go, & then push it into place & strap it down for a few hours, to let the Shoe Goo cure. It holds better than just about anything I've ever tried. I've used it to mount servos before, & it worked perfectly.... :)

There is some stuff called Goo Gone, that really helps loosen Shoe Goo so you can easily pry a component off with a screwdriver.... :)

Good servo tape will hold it as long as you clean it good 1st. I usually like to clean it with alchohol or laquer thinner, & then lightly sand before installing the servo tape. Very difficult to remove!

Heres what you do...Put a thin layer of double sided tape(about 1/8-1/16in.)around the edges of the v6. make certain it connects to the chassis, and the side of the esc. This will keep the dirt out. Good luck dude.

I velcro everything on my car, receiver, esc, batts., and even my batteries (b/c i got tired of taking the pins in and out) Velcro works fine for me.

I use industrial strength velcro(really, it exists!!!) and I use servo tape too. I used to use double sided tape but that stuff wouldn't stick no matter how well I cleaned the surfaces. Servo tape works best for me.

You could put a small hole (small) in the chassis on each end of the ESC and run a small zip-tie over it to lock it to the chassis..might help, just look out for those heatsinks.

Use Bolink servo 2 sided tape and it will hold. A guy I work with needed something to hold a speaker box up in the corner of his truck cab and I gave hime a chunk of the bolink tape. Several weeks later it's still hanging up there. Just make sure you clean the component and the chassis before you put the esc in.

Also, when you use servo tape, you could use a hair dryer to warm it up before you mount it into the chassis... it will make it stick a lot better.

To ensure that the servo tape holds in good... clean the surface with rubbing alcohol or isoprophyl (however you spell it) it'll evaporate quickly, but try NOT to touch the surface, apply the tape and then fasten the esc or whatever electronic you mount.

The reason why it's not stickin well is cause the surface youre trying to mount it on is dirty... not dirt like dirt but from your hands or finger tip... the grease from your finger tips prevents adhesives such as servo tape from adhering well ... :D

Nitro fuel? LMAO, that fuel contains castor oil, oil=slippery=nothing stick to it.

It seems to me as though just cleaning the chassis and the speed control clean of residue will solve the problem. Then use industrial strength velco like he suggested, just make sure you clean both cars first. Put it in one car, then DO NOT MOVE IT. Let the tape set before you start moving the ESC, then do the other car.

VELCRO!!! You guys are a life saver! I have been thinking of a convenient way of switching my esc between cars till I get the funds for another ESC. I was over thinking, like drilling holes and putting the zip tie through, but on my truck it'd probably catch on a jump if I hit the jump right. Thats great, I'm going to suggest that to my friend who is constantly putting his ESC in place with servo tape over and over.

Also, If you put both servo tape and the zip ties it works well, but I dont think that the TC3 has an upper deck to mount to, so I'm not sure it'd work cuz the tie might catch.

Go to a hardware store like OSH, or Home Depot and find some 3M double-sided tape. They make one for mounting address numbers to the outside of your house and seems to have pretty good shear strength. Make sure the surfaces are clean. Also, if it's cold or humid, it seems you end up with a weaker initial adhesion which allows dirt etc. to get under the tape. Good luck.

Let me see if I got this right... you put oil on it & it wouldn't stick? Now I know why I tend to overexplain things! I don't remember anyone suggesting to use nitro fuel to clean, only alchohol & laquer thinner. Motor cleaner will work fairly well but not as good as the others mentioned. Good luck.

Yep, industrial strength velcro works awesome! That's how I mounted my friend's receiver and ESC. They haven't popped off the chasis once on him yet, even after head on crashes! After we race in some dirt, he just pulls the receiver/ESC off the velcro and shakes the dirt/dust/whatever out and all is good :)

industrial strength velcro? Where'd you find that stuff? I've been using velcro from Radio Shack and so far it hasn't failed me... but stronger is always better!

Just ask for it at your Home Depot or other hardware store. The Radio Shack stuff might be industrial. The stuff I use is made by 3M and the box is labelled "Industrial Strength". If you can't get 3M, the Velcro brand works well too.
