I have a speed gems 2 13t in my TC3. I see the preformance getting worse since it was new. IE speed, and accelartion. could the comm need to be cut? i dont have a lathe should i get one and if i do how would it work? I figured ive ran its over 20 times by now.thanx alot. PS also i heard this motor is ajustable, on the side i see marks, how could i adjust it and what does it do. Im sorry that this is a long post but i just have Qs and i dont want to ruin my stuff, thanx so much for anything back.

Have you been cleaning the motor? Replacing worn brushes? Gearing Lower onthe pinion and higher on the spur? :p

20 runs! its the comm and brushes replase the brushes with reedy 767s or 737s and take it to your lhs they should have a lathe or your local track some one might have a lathe

More than likely it's your comm after 20 runs, but have you actually pulled the motor apart and looked at the comm ? If it's turning blue or there's discoloration where the brushes touch it, then it's time for a cut. Clean it out first, then inspect the comm.
As for Reedy 767 brushes, they're high-silver content and are more suited to stock motors. They're laydown type as well, if I recall the SG2 has stand-up (but I could be wrong there). Your LHS should be able to recommend a suitable brush.
As for your question in your other post about the markings on the can - these are the timing marks - increasing the timing gives you more power, but also increases comm wear and heat generated, and decreases run time. The ideal position is something you have to get a feel for, with your particular car, gearing and batteries.
Good luck.

it costs however much the person cutting it wishes to charge. I like getting it cut from people who do it for free. $5 is usually the most someone will charge. But then you also have to pay for new brushes(and springs if you like
