I just recently bought a tamiya TL-01 touring car. It is four wheel drive shaft driven. I put a new engine in, but when i go full throttle too fast, it dies, and if i baby it up to full throttle, and let off too fast, it dies. I haveto turn the car off and then back on. What would cause this too happen.. It came stock with a combined ESC and receiver. Do i need to replace those to handle a better engine? i would appreciate the help.

There's a good chance you installed a new motor that is too powerful for the speed control. You should read the instructions of contact the hobby shop to determine if there's a motor limit.

I agree with SeveP. The same thing has happened to me, and it was the motor. It was too powerful for the ESC.

I think that is prolly the case, cuz it is a 14 turn double motor. Any suggestions on what speed control to buy. something good, but not too expensive? thanks, BOBBY

Buy an ESC and maybe a new motor, too. Whatever you do, an ESC should be the first thing you get for a car, then bearings are next.

Novak fussion is a good esc, and it is pretty cheap. (Yes, the $70 price tag is cheap.. Im pretty sure its 70 buxs anyway...)
It has a 12 turn motor limit, so it would handel your motor just dandy. The Novak Explorer II is only 50 bucks, but i think it has a 14t motor limit... Just remember:You get what you pay for.
