I'm just getting into electric stadium trucks and have a battery question for you guys.I'm going to buy a pair of the new Duratrax Evader ST trucks for me and my son when they become availible in August from Tower Hobbies. It uses a 20T motor and i'm going to use a 7 cell flat pack in it.These trucks are just for us to race each other and not for competition.Would you buy 2 Sanyo RC-2400mah 7 cell packs at $124.98 or 6 Tower Hobbies 1800mah 7 cell packs for $180??I know the 2400's have more run time but they sure are expensive. Are they worth it if your not in pro racing??

I would go for the 1800's. Unless you are going to race. Then I would go for the 2400's.

I would go for 12 1700mah packs from Larry Flew (http://www.larryflew.com) :) I like them for what they are... and I like my Maxx Packs too.

rcguy49: It's listed, but it won't come in until August.

Buy the 1800's. As long as you both use the same batteries, it'll be a fair race. And since you'll have 6 of them, you won't have to wait for the batteries to charge (you and your son will each get three runs, opposed to only one run before you have to charge).

Have you decided which charger you are going to buy? I recommend the Duratrax Piranha. It's inexpensive (around $30), and it's a peak charger, meaning your batteries will come off with a full charge.

I personally would get 3 or 4 maxx paxx sets. If you get 3, you get 6 batteries for like $135 and they are 1900s. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me! :p :p ;)

If it's all fun with your son in the sun... then go with 6 1800mah packs... besides, the batteries may be expensive... but having fun with your son is priceless :D

Drive hard you two

If it was me, I would get some of the cheapest ($30-$35) matched RC2000 or RC2400 packs from Integy. And 6 cells are plenty fast, especially with true racing type batteries like this. Even if you never race, they are still worth it. The voltage is just crap on the low end cells, but, just my opinion, I would take the better cells any day. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you guys will have a blast!

I would go for the cheaper ones. I hear at tower they have a deal for RC2400 Max Packs 2 for $50 they are 6 cell though. But you would be better off w/ those than w/ 7 cell 1800's. You would have more voltage w/ the 7 cell but the 6 cells aren't too far behind. Plus they last longer. and for a 20 T motor i think you might want to change that down to a 17 turn and run the 6 cells. Plus w/ a 20 turn if you wanted more punch you could just go w/ a lower turn motor as i mentioned and use the 2400's they have good punch. My .02 cents Hope this helps

Will the 7 cell packs fit? Better find out first. I think not.

They fit in stadium trucks pretty well (T3, Rustler, etc), so they should fit the Evader. Just be sure to get the flat kind, not the hump kind.

buggieracer-Before you decide on the 7 cell packs, take into consideration that you willl not get more run time, only higher voltage, which means more punch. If you are just racing with your son you can probably find six cell packs for cheaper.

It brings a tear to my eye (well, not really but you get the idea) when dads ask about stuff like this so they can go have fun with their sons. My dad and I have been racing for almost seven years, which is near half of my life, and we have had more fun then should be legal. Just another reason RC is the greatest hobby there is, gives dads another reason to take their son out in the back yard and go have fun. I guarantee you will never see a bigger smile than the one on your kid's face when you are out driving around.

I would go with the 1800's, or go with a cheap 6 cell pack, with a stock motor your not going to get much punch anways.

I would get the cheap ones and two chargers. the 7 cell packs will give as mch or more power as the expensive ones. each pack won't last as long, but you will have 3 packs each, so that isn't a problem.

2 good ones. I have done both and would gladly trade 6 for 2 now.
