I was searching on the web ( http://www.stormerhobbies.com ) and I came across a Fantom Fury & Reedy Fury WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE???

I was thinking about getting the Fantom Fury 16 Turn Triple, would that be ok? or bad?

THANKS :)

PS: The Fantom Fury is 7 to 16 turns and the Reedy Fury only comes in 7 to 12 turns.

Fantom motors are re-labeled motors, Like War Lock and the rest, what it is, is a can, endbell, and armerature from the Fury, it is based on the fury, but there are different techniques used in winding, and brushes, and springs. Either way you go, they are both Strong motors.

Fantom is NOT related to Reedy or the name "FURY" in ANY way.

Fantom is a motor builder, just like Reedy.

Fantom builds motors on Yokomo based blanks, as well as EPIC based blanks.

I went to Stormer's site, and It appears that they are using the name "Fury" to denote that the motor uses a Yokomo based motor. They also have Fantom "D4" to denote which are EPIC based motors, like Trinity.

See ya...

Yeah, they are, in essence, the same motors, but maybe with different springs and/or brushes.

NO, they are NOT!

Fantom winds their own motors. They also use different armature designs for certain winds. Fantom has a different balancing system.

The only thing that the Reedy Fury, and the Fantom Yok based motor share is the can and endbell. Nothing Else!

Now if you want to talk about stock motors, yes, they are all about the same.

This guys is talking about modified motors.

Ok, I stand corrected. Do they start with the same armature blanks (without the wire)?

Yes. Yokomo has several different arm designs available right now.

The hot ticket at the moment is hemi-winding, on the "82" arm(Fury style), and putting that in the new Ti can.

Mad power...... Troy Power..... FANTOM

Well I dunno about their Yokomo motors, but I have a Fantom D4 motor and the armature has a tag that says "Epic 20" denoting it's an Epic armature of 20 turns. So they don't wind their own, at least not the Epic's. They just put a sticker on the can.
Same with Fantom's P2K - I checked my Trinity P2K against a dude at my race track's Fantom P2K and the only difference is the sticker. In all other respects, they're identical.
Maybe they do it differently with their Yoky motors......

You are missing the point.

I am not talking about stock motors. Who cares about stock motors. They are all the same, all slow. I am talking about hand-wound modified motors. Money is made on Modified motors. The big races that make you want to buy a companies products when they win, are won with modified motors....

I have no knowledge of the Group 20 stuff you guys race in Aus. I assume it is machine wound class, and Fantom is just purchasing pre-wound arms from EPIC. Seems like a cheap way to get their foot in the door in the Australian market. Pretty smart.
