View Full Version : Can i use the emaxx titan 550 motor in my blackfoot?

Hey tower hobbies has the titan 550 motor for the emaxx for 20 bucks, would it fit in my blackfoot extreme????i am runnning the stock tamiya esc that came with the kit.
also i am thinking about getting the y adapter so i can run 2 7.2 battery packs.thanx

i don't see why it wouldn't work. the 550 is a little longer but should have the same radius as any 540 motor

you could go up a tooth or so if you wanted. the titan is a torque monster so you should be ok

I think the stock tamiya esc can only handle 7.2V. The titan requires 14.4V, not sure if it can run on 7.2V, even if possible I doubt it can outperform the stock 540.

Should fit, but you would need a 14.4V esc like the evx or superduty xr.

The titan will work on those two, but will just be very slow on 7.2. Maybe around half power also.

also what about those johnson 550 electric motors u see on ebay???anybody using those???

Tower has a motor called the electrifly s-600 that is designed for 7.2-8.4v or 6-7 cells ( its a lower turn motor). Its only like $15. Only thing is, I'm not sure if it would bolt right in to a car/truck.

The Y adapter will make the batts last twice as long. I may have made a mistake abouit the titans and some other 550s have a larger front bearing in the nose and may not fit the stock motor mount. Have to make the mount bigger.
