I got a horribly mangled Kyosho Hurricane boat in a trade, and I figured that I would just toss it aside and not use it... Well, I was wrong. It is my first boat, and first boat ever to repair. It (as you all know) is a cat hull, but it had severe damage on the inside corners (appearing to be from someone running it into rocks?).

Either way, I got it with SUPERGLUE on the inside edges. I took all the superglue off all the cracks and holes, and I started from scratch-2 ton, 2 part Epoxy resin. The last section of epoxy is drying right now, but I have a couple quick questions...

-The boat doesnt have a prop. I dont have the money to fix my EVX I have lying around, and no money to buy a new one, so I installed a Titan and a different ESC. What prop would you reccomend?

-Is there any way to make the hull stronger? It seems fairly fragile...

-Any special paint? Any special coating?

Any help is very appreciated, and I will post updated pics...

Hi I will take a stab at this. To stiffen the hull .You could use some glass cloth and Ca (super glue). The epoxy you are using really dosn't bite into the plastic of the hull and may come loose. The ca will get the right bite and is the lightest and stiffest glue for this purpose.
The Hurricane is 31" long and used two motors geared together to have eneough power to run. Its way too big to work on only one 550 motor. You need to rethink this. You will not have eneough power unless you use two 550 motors or a single 700 sized motor on 12 cells. Is your speed control from the Villan Ex still good? You could run 700 motor with it. A boat this size will need a prop of 42mm to 45mm dia to run well. There are quite a few good props in this size. Of the plastic props only the Graupner Carbon fiber props are worth using. A Graupner K42 or K45 would work great and only cost $5 ea. Other than these you have to go to metal props.
You mentioned that money is a issue (when isn't it to us boaters?). You have to have some money to work with or have a well stocked junk bin.
If you might like to go with a 700 motor ,I have a few used 700s laying arround. I could part with one real cheap. A 9.6V 700 could power your Hurricane up to about 24mph. I have a couple . A old type 8.4V 700 may get the boat up to 26mph or more . The ones I would sell are all well used but in good running shape. I have gone completely over to the newer type 700 motors (SS1 and 700sc ). So I have little use for the older ones. n.h.schmidt

I have an EVX, but I got it broken  And (of course) dont have the money to fix it. I ended up trying out the Epoxy, and i'll see how that works, I guess.

It looks like im stuck with my single Titan for now, but hopefully I will be able to get my EVX running and toss my Kyosho 360st's back in. Thanks for the offer, though, and I thank you for the chance-but I dont have any money right now :(
