i have tried the double capacitor thing with a novak hammer and cyclone .. i expected that i would get a bit more braking power .. and more braking power is what i indeed got .. at least it seemed like i did .. so try it out, see how you like it ..

I also have the Atom. Do u mean Power Capacitor or Shottky Diodes. Well since I brought it up I saw Kinwald had 2 shottky Diodes on his motor. He was using the atom at the time also. What will that gain.

shockkty diodes go on the motor, they give more breaking power because they alow electricity to flow only one way thats why you can't use them with reverseable esc's.

You see pro racers using multiple power capacitors because they use low turn motors wich need more capacitors.

this is directly from novak:
Do i have to use a power capacitor on my cyclone or atom?
"Yes, you have to install the Power Capacitor on the Atom / Cyclone even if you are using stock motors. The capacitor filters out all of the ripple on the input voltage. This ripple is due to the high frequency operation of the speed control. If you don't use the power capacitor you run the risk of causing internal damage to your speed control. Using the capacitor will result in an approximately 10 percent increase in the RPMs of your motor at partial throttle. It will also decrease the operating temperature of the Atom / Cyclone from 10-15 degrees, making the ESC more efficient."
---------------------------------------------
When you use lower turn motors the esc gets hotter so you need to use more power capicitors to cool it down and make the esc preform better.

The capacitors make the overall throttle smoother when used low turn, high amp draw motors.
For stock racing, one is enough. If you run any lower than a 10T, then I would recomend and aditional cap.

Everywhere I look I see pro racers soldering double capacitors onto there Cyclones and Atoms, what does this do? I have an Atom, I will start racing come spring, should I put another on mine?
Thanks,

yea, i have a cyclone , does the double capacitor do any thing?

you won't need them on a stock motor, 1 is enough.

I run a stock motor now so I guess the double capcitors is out but should I run double diodes then?

If the diode on the motor only helps with breaking, then would it hurt the Esc if I run a motor with out the diode? I run on dirtovals in CNY, and having alot of brakes doesnt help get around the track fast.

they say your supose too, but i have heard that you don't need one. I have a cyclone and i have never used a diode and it hasn't hurt the esc.

I don't use a schottky diode and it runs perfect!

The schottky diode isolates the short created by braking to the motor. Therefore it keeps the brake transistors(fets) cooler. Cooler fets = more braking power.
