I have a Indi 16x3 Pro v2.5 with 4A discharge, and I have a Deans bulb Discharger with the "Black Box 2." My question is would it be better to wait a long, long time for the Indi to discharge my batteries after a 4 min race (2400 mAh) or use the Deans to discharge them?? Is there any + or - about using the Indi? Should I discharge my batteries with the Deans till the lights automadically shut off then put it on the Indi?

Thanks!

Here's my two cents. Throw them on the bulbs, make sure you have a fan blowing on them to cool the pack and that should be all you need to do. Although batteries are "touchy" I honestly think that people make it considerably harder than it is. I have packs that were in my toolbox dead for 7 years, I got them out a few weeks ago and charged them up and they are running with my new packs :) and all I've ever done is bulb discharge. That may not apply to nimhs and they may require more "care", but...

you will want to use the 30 amp dean's discharger for sure.... it will help your 2400 ni-cads put out full power for the entire length of the pack... if you use a 4 amp dis-charger, they will not want to put out full juice all the way to the end...

peace out.... :)

Howie!
Hey man, do you know if 1157 bulbs draw 2 or 3 amps?

Spring Series is over. None too soon either, it was 102 degrees at the track Sat.

Did pretty good, won the stock class. I guess we're going to change the track to a flat oval for a month or so and then in August we're having the Idaho State onroad Championships. That should be fun.

How about you? Still raisin' cain?

IR, 1157's typically draw about 2 amps per bulb, so 10 of them together would draw about 20 amps.... :)

yup, all is going great here... the racing is going great... hoping to get some new fast guys at the track... tearing up the old ones every weekend gets boring fast.... LOL....

we've got the RC Olympics going on this coming weekend.... it is gonna be just 2 much fun... :) we built both the long jump and high jump ramps last weekend..

the high jump ramp is 4 feet tall (looks like a 1/4 pipe) and i didn't have much trouble clearing 9 feet with a stock motor last weekend during practice... i'll be using a Downing prepped 12x2 D-4 during the actual contest... i'm hoping for well over 12 feet using the mod...

the long jump ramp is 3 feet tall and has a super sweet angle to it... my stock motor equipped FT T-3 was getting around 20 feet over the weekend... that number will go WAYYYY up with a hot mod under the hood.... Woooo Hooooooo...

now, if i can just find a 9 tooth pinion, i'll be ready for the run time challenge... LMAO..

peace out.... :)

Be sure to take a lot of pics of the event Howard, it sounds like it'll be a hoot. I got my TC3 about 12 feet in the air, once, just once. Launched it off a pipe and into the wild blue yonder playing with a Orion 8 dbl. The crowd thought it was exciting, me? not so much..

just fyi... those on-road cars are supposed to remain "on the road"... not 10 feet in the air.. LOL...

so what was the repair bill after your big air?? LMAO.... (if it didn't break anything then i GOTTA buy one of those for the high jump... LMAO)

and yes, we'll be taking a TON of pics... and while we won't be able to do a live web-cast... we will be doing hourly updates on the olympic message board... Idaho, i'll shoot ya the url for the pics and message board updates... (and probably post a few of the pics here on the RCCA board)

btw- looks like i'll be running my FT T-3 in the demo derby... should be interesting... LOL... i guess i'll run it this weekend, fix the broken parts, then put it on E-bay... LOL... should be interesting to see just what breaks first...

o &... about the bulbs... if you want an exact reading on current draw... just get out your dvo or multi-meter.. the bulbs are supposed to draw 2 A a piece... but that tends to vary a bit... so once you build your string, test it with your dvo to see what the actual draw is.. a little variance on one bulb adds up to a big one on 10 bulbs...

peace out.... :)

Repair bill wasn't bad at all. a front body post and a new body. Oh, and a new antenna for the tranmitter after I broke it pitching a fit. I wouldn't really reccomend it for the high jump tho...

Looking forward to viewing all the carnage created. Although we have a pretty good demo derby every time the mod guys go at it. Too much speed + a complete lack of brains * a whole lotta testosterone = some pretty entertaining racing!

I must have been smacked with a stupid stick. Use your multimeter brainiac! Geez.
Thanks guys.
