I got my TC3 last night and started building it. My question is when I put the diffs in the front and rear diff cases they fit in very tight so tight that when I spin the spur gear the diffs slip unless I tighten the diff all the way down I took out the shims and still the same problem Is this normal. Has it happened to any one else.

You need to carefully cut out the sides of the cases with a x-acto knife. I used a wood fornster bit and machined mine like a mill would do. Make sure the diff will fall out of both case halfs when you hold them upside down. Get them loose and then shim them up. R.W.

Happened to me too. Turned out I used the wrong washer. There are two types of washers used in that stem, one is about a nano-meter thinner. I used the thicker one.

These things are built to very tight specs. That one nanometer makes a difference. :D

Yup, I had the same problem. The diffs fit very tightly and that was binding the out drives. Make sure the thrust washers are seated correctly in their flats. If the diffs are just a hair wider, they don't want to fit too well. Also, I first installed the diffs in the upper half of the bulkhead, then made sure they spun freely. Next I carefully pressed the upper half with diff onto the lower bulkhead half and made sure it spun freely, then tightened the screws down.
