My Wife Just got a rustler and it's nice. However if you are going to race, make sure that a mod motor is OK it comes with a 20 turn stinger Mod motor. Now keep in mind that the rustler is an entery level truck if you plan on racing often you might look at the Kyosho Ultima (they have a ready to run Kit at about the same$), Losi or Assosiated trucks. But just for backyard fun and the once in a while race get the Rustler.....

dont be disin the rustler dude lol J/k anyways i have a rustler its FUN!!!!!! you like cant brake it and its soooo torquey i'll be racin soon so i'm gonna really hop it up here are a few things i'm shootin for
1.over sized Ball Barrings on the wheels
2.stealth tranny
3.CVD's maybe
4.t-bone tires in the rear razor pins in front
5.deans SS body
6.and a few other things notice i didnt list anything to make it stronger lol it wont brake :D anyways i say go wit the rustler for backyard and racing if you have the money to hop it up good luck be==>

oh and also even if you reace it right outa the box at a novice class race you'd prolly do ok but with some Ball BArrings in the wheels and a new stock moter (i suggest p2K)it would most likly whoop some newbie racer butt
:D hope u have fun whatver you choose

Just my opinion but I would go with a RC10T3 RTR I have the team T3 but the RTR does look nice and much better than the rustler for just a little more. And with a few upgrades you will be running what everyone else is running and not looking for a new truck in a few weeks. go to ultimatehobbies.com they have the rc10t3 rtr for 189.95 and thats about the same price as the rustler with ESC. This way you will have all name brand parts to not just traxxas. I was going to buy one but I went with a kit instead.

The Rustler is a great car for a new person in the hobby and for novice class racing. I have heard of people racing their Rustlers in other classes after adding bearings and good shocks and an after market motor. Don't be misled by people who don't like Traxxas stuff. The Rustler is a great truck with a lot of potential.

I do like traxxas stuff I have a Stampede but I can tell that it was made alot cheaper than my T3. If you can afford to spend the extra couple dollars get the T3.
