I've recently been building lots of sidexside packs. I have heard that you can glue the cells together by using shoe goo or thick ca. Right now the packs are taped together and the tape looks ugly and gets torn up. I would like my bateries to look "clean" and profestional. Will you be able to notice shoe goo or ca? What should I use?
THANK YOU!

I use a deans jig so the cells do fit together nicley. If i don't tape ot glue the cells together it won't hold together well.
Has anone ever used shoe goo and how dose it look after it's done?

I use shoe goo to hold together my battery packs 100% of the time. I'll never not use it again. My batteries are so solid compared to how they are without goo, there's no question for me as to whether or not to goo them. You can either 1) solder them together with your jig and apply the goo to the joints after or 2) glue them first then solder them in your jig (first glue pairs and let the glue cure 20 minutes, then combine them and let it cure). #2 is my preferred method because it looks cleanest and is very solid. I ABSOLUTELY recommend shoe goo!

if you recomend it so much i'll do it. Where can i get shoe goo?
Same exact thing here, its one of the wonders of my world (Duct Tape is first, then CA glue). Show Goo is great, and you can find it in a lot of places, especially hardware stores. Go to Home Depot, Sears, or Ace, or even like a car parts store. Your Hobby Shop might even have it (maybe).

Possibly at one of these stores:
Home Depot
Ace Hardware
True Value
Rite-aid
Bi-Mart
Fred Meyers
Lowes
Hi-School Pharmacy
G I Joes
Hobby Shop
I have also used a product called
"Zap a-dap-a Goo II",
I believe you might be able to get it at hobby shops if it is still available.

i personally use "shoe_goo" to glue my cells and when you want to take them apart to match 'em up on a turbo matcher it really saves time and its a lot easier to on the cells , saves you money on shrink wraps too

I agree, shrink wrap gets brittle & ugly in time.

I have some advice about what NOT to use... Hot-Glue. Apparently there is some sort of reaction when the cells get hot... pack comes apart, something about heat and hot glue, I still haven't fully grasped all the complexities of this situation.... :)

I have used think CA before and don't recommend it. Use Shoe Goo so you can take the cells back apart. If you use battery bars and make sure the cells are tight before you solder, the battery bars will hold the cells together quite nicely too. Tape the cells together to hold them ncie and tight before you solder the bars on and then take it off after you are done.. the pack should stay together nicely.

um well that's how hot glue works... heat it up and it becomes goo... plus you gotta remember, when your batteries become hot, the hot glue is certainly gonna come undone and i dont think that's what hot glue is meant for... so... :D
eh for me i use the deans battery jig, first i solder on the bars, then i pull it out gently, next i use CA to bond the cells together, after it hardens, i apply another bond of CA... works for me and my saddle packs look beyond professional

Yes I do, but you don't have to.
