Stampede gearing with p2k

Just put a p2k motor in my lil bro's stampede...wow its as if this motor was made for the pede. Only problem was the lil bro stripped the stock pinion and we had to use a 19t pinion that was originally used with a 17turn speed gems. The top speed is nice and their is some torque, but i was wondering, what would be the best gearing running a p2k motor in the stampede?

Looking for decent torque and decent high speed as well. The lil bro is considering racing the pede a lil bit at some local places, nothing incredibly competitive. I was thinking 17t pinion, but what do you guys think?

17 would probably be a good start but, pay attention to how it's running and make sure it's not getting too hot. I smoked one in my evader in less than ten runs and it was not too badly over geared. But it is a great motor. And I should have changed the gearing but, the top speed was awesome. Hope this helps.
