Hi, I am new to the RC hobby. I was wondering if someone could tell me what benefits a ESC would provide for me. If I have to get a ESC, would I have to change the motor my PEDE came with? And if so, why?

Another question is how hard is to install a ESC? I bought the truck RTR from towerhobbies.

Thanks for help.

The esc are easy to install just plug in a few wires mount it in the place of your old speed control and your good. You can use any motor with it just as long as the motor turns aren't lower than the esc can handle. The nice thing about an esc is it makes you car a bit faster and makes batteries last longer. Gives you better control of the rate of speed your going and makes your car a weight less. For around 60$ to 130$ you will get a great esc. Get a super rooster.

an esc will deffinately give you better control of your truck. the mechanicals give you basicly 3 speeds but the electrics will give allow a more controllable acceleration plus a few eliminate the instant reverse that the mechanical has. the control in my truck has a 2 second delay to reverse which allows actual brakeing instead of that sudden reversal

You need to make a plate that will fit over the hole where your trottle servo was. The plate that is there for the mechanical speed controller to screw to can be used if you cut off the posts but I've found that the plate is too small. I think RPM makes different colored plates that will work. I just made one out of a thin piece of wood. It doesn't look as nice but it works and it was free.

Go to Tower Hobbies and read up on all the esc's just don't buy one there. Support your local hobby shop by purchasing one there. Talk to the people at the shop too. They usually know a lot. There are a lot of choices out there so take your time. Feel free to email me if you want.

A esc will help your batterie life, and time, and motor life out. better throtle controle, and can be set to your settings you like . unlike a msc which is letting the batterie push juice striaght to the motor. which puts more strain on both the batterie and motor.the teken reabel is a good choice for a beginner. it has reverse too.

i would go with the teking rebel, can run much hotter motors then the rooster, and is the same price, not to mention it doesnt glitch when its on and the radio isnt, also works much better in the snow, i have had it covered and it never fried.

also make sure to get deans connecters!

Definitly get an ESC. Its more efficient and gives you better control since the throttle is proportionate. I have a Novak Rooster and have been pretty happy. The Tekin Rebel is more efficient and can handle a more powerful motor I believe. You don't have to change the motor. The stock motor is decent. Learn how to drive with a slower motor then get a better stock motor like a P2k or a mild modified motor. The ESC is easy to install. Simply remove the mechanical speed contol and the throttle servo. The speed contol plugs straight into the motor and into the reciever. I used the mechanical speed control mount and cut the posts off with a Dremel tool and used double sided tape to hold it on. I abuse my Pede and the speed control has never loosened being attached that way. Good luck and enjoy the hobby!

fma makes some good inexpensive esc's also. the stampedes do come with a plate that can be used to mount an esc on but it is pretty narrow. the rpm one works well

I like the fusion but it doesnt have reverse and there very easy to put in you can run your motor it came with but i think a d4 would yun good in your truck i like 13 turns
