I need to buy a speed control for my newly built truck. I plan on racing stock class and then eventually moving to mods. I was planning on getting the LRP V7.1 ESC. Is this a good choice for both stock and mod racing or should I check out the LRP SR. I just dont want to have to buy a new ESC if I choose to go to the mod class.
Thanks

If you will eventually move up to mod go 7.1. It is not worth the money, just get good batteries and it will make up the difference.

i disagree with B3 Bomb, the v7.1 is an excellent ESC and is well worth the money. A great feature is this feature that when you turn the car on and press the throttle for the first time it send an extra charge to the motor. This gives your car/truck the advantage from the starting line, as soon as you go into a corner the feature disables and goes into normal racing mode. The v7.1 cmes with these chips and there are certain chips for stock. I have it and it works great.

If you were going to race stock only I'd say the 7.1 is overkill in a big way. Like shooting tweety birds with a 10 gauge shotgun. But, if you're going into mods eventually then you're on the right track. Better to grow into something than to grow out of it.
