For 2 years, i´ve been using normal gp 3300 cells (not pushed or matched etc.). And now i´m thinking about buying high quality cells.
But will they make my lap times faster?
I know it depends on my skills...!!!

Well you kinda just answered your question. It will make your car faster and if you can drive a faster car then yes your lap times will go up.

Your lap times will go down, but I know what you mean. :p

Better batteries are definitely worth having, especially if you are racing stock!

Peter: Absolutely! There's no substitute for power. Skill in driving and setup are the most important but aside from them, power rules.
Check out some good matched cells from a reputable dealer like SPC (http://www.specpointbatteries.com/index.html) you might be suprised at how reasonable their prices are. Also learning how to take care of good batteries is the best way to protect your investment.

Have fun.

If you know what pushed cells are, you probably been in the hobby for a long time!

Better cells will make a car go faster but it does NOT mean everyone can benefit from a faster car. This "faster" only means more power and nothing to do with handling. If you are a racer that can run a clean 5/6/8 mins then sure you can use more power. For those who can't finish a clean race then theres no point for more power. In that case more power only means you will hit walls harder. Some guys can finish a race with a stock motor and not a mod motor cause they would break the car before the end of a run!

Sounds harsh? Maybe... But thats the truth!

Whats a good indication of how well skill and handling substitutes for power? Go to the local track and look at the race results for mod vs. stock or 27t stock vs 19t or 19t vs. mod. Not all the mod guys get more laps down than stock guys, now do they?

Not trying to deter anyone from going with better cells but just got to ask youself if you needed them. But in the grand scheme of things, go get some.... go nuts!....

Battery might make a small improvement to none at all. First always try to get the vehicle to handle as good as you can, even ask someone else what they might see that you can't. Then motor - ask questions concerning tuning get the motor to produce as much power as it can, learn how to gear and tune to track conditions. ESC might reduce some power by having poor connectors, high resistance or just wires that are worn (some competitive racers routinely replace all power wires - or send in esc to be checked). Batteries - using charge or discharge rates that are too low can also effect the way in which cells produce energy. Charger limits may be one factor if it is only able to charge at a max rate of 4amp when the norm might be to charge at 5 or 6amps.

Odds are if you batteries are not in bad shape then you would be better spending the money on tires\Shock rebuilds\other maintenance. Many racers do not keep their car in top shape. If you have a tranny or spur gear that is worn or causing friction those new batteries may get you less than if you cleaned up the friction problem.

Short answer - Yes they can make it faster but may not be you best choice to go faster.
