View Full Version : External/Internal? Gravity/Syphon?

I would ask the general question of what airbrush, but I've read and heard of what brands are good.
My question is though, is it better to have an internal mixer or external? Does one waste more paint than another? Is one make it more defined? (Better lines)
Next, Gravity or Syphon? Is one any easier to use than the other when it comes to getting inside these bodies?
Thanks ladies/gents in advance.

Gravity or Syphon
Same thing with this phrase, same search time and got This (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/search.php?searchid=259261)

External feeds are fine if all you're doing are basic one or two color paont schemes with maybe mild fades. You're far better off with an internal feed. It will atomize the paint far better. The only down side to internal feeds is that you really need to keep up on cleaning the gun or keeping it wet. Tear down takes a little longer.
If you're shooting very large amounts of paint then syphon is the only way to go. (unless you're talking large paint guns) With RC shells, you can go either way. I prefer syphon as I keep paint in multiple bottles all the time. For small amounts, you can use the color cups that come with most airbrushes.
The main thing is to find a brush that feels comfortable for YOU. What's good for one may not be good for another. If you can find a place to try multiple brushes, use it.

Great links, I love reading "sorry no matches" as a response to someone's question.

PFFFFTTT
The links were there till I logged off the pc.
If you use a little common sense :D and a small amount of initiative you will find a dozen or more posts on the subjects in question

Or you could post exerpts or the actual links and this thread will someday show up in a search as a worthwhile read.
I've been around boards [and admin'd/mod'd on national boards] for a long time and one of my pet peeves is the "do a search" response which does nothing but boost post counts and project a "holier than thou" mentality.

And your argumentative and pointless remarks do what exactly ??

My point is if you have the answers, share!
"Do a search" or "I can find the answer" posts are as childish as going around saying "I know a secret, and you can't know".
If I had the answers, I'd post them, but I don't, and I'm in a ranting mood, nothing more.

1stGen, not trying to be argumentative, but if you did the search, you'd see there's plenty of threads out there regarding the keywords provided. So many, in fact, it would be nearly inpractical for one person to post up links to each of those search results. If they were, they'd become overshadowed by further posts regarding similar topics. Shortly thereafter, this thread would be lost in the archives of the forum only to be found by recurring members doing searches for those who refuse to use the tools provided.
4X4, you've been around enough to know of the volumes of information strewn throughout the forums. Asking that type of question is like asking about which shock oil should you use on your local track. There's a lot of information about these topics. A better option would have been to ask about specific airbrushes (ie. Iwata HP-C, Eclipse, Revolution, etc).

This is one of those questions we see about every 4 weeks. The people who help others here just don't feel the need to post the same Q n A's over and over. No disrespect to 4x4 Racer. Hope to see some cool paint jobs from you soon. :)
Thanks to Piggy for the links!

That's true, and I encourage people to use the search function on my other forums. What I refuse to do is make a post telling someone to find their own answers because it's too much bother to me to get them started in the right direction, which is all I'm trying to say on this topic.
The difference between
do a search
and
here's a couple threads to get you started [blank], if you want to do more reading I found those searching for [blank] Is a little tact.
