Hi All.

Just bought a new set of 3700 mah nimh cells. I've been told that the initial charge should be 10% (0.37ma) of the capacity. is this true????

Another question, If youre not supposed to solder your batteries, how do you add the tabs to it????

Sorry for all the questions but these were quite expensive and I want to look after them as I cannot afford to buy new cells every month...

please help!!!!!

The slow charge is to bring all cells up to the same charge level (full), without over heating any cells. Charge them at that level fro 14-16hrs.
Yes, you can solder on cells, but be careful not to overheat them. Don't leave the soldering iron on the cell for more than 5 secs.

To build a side by side battery pack go to: How to build your own battery pack (http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/articles/build_battery.asp)

Before use, i'd recommend you slow charge these cells at about 1amp till fully charged, and then discharge them. Repeat this step about 3 times. This will help cycle the packs. You also might want to throw them in an discharge equilizer tray. This ensure that the cells are at the same voltage before charge, and you'll yield more equal output of performance from your entire pack. After that you should be safe charging these packs at a rate of about 3-5 amps.

Refering to the How to build a battery pack article i would suggest not to tin the cells first. Scuff them lightly with a dremel or an exacto knife,(suggesting using the deans gig) put a dab of flux on the cell end and place the battery bar on. Tin the soldering iron tip and touch it onto the battery bar adding solder as being touched, there should be a light sizzle as the solder is sucked down through the bar holes and Vlah-la! Perfect soldering job.
