I want a great battery that will run along time at 30 amps. I dont race. I dont like the 1500 though.I have a 1700 zapper and that is okay but it is time for a step up. what do you think is worth. A 2400 Ni-cd or a 3000 Ni-mh and a charger(i dont have a ni-mh chargeer). Or should I just buy some 2000's and save money. Would a 2400 be worth the extra money than a 2000. Or would the 2000 be not much of a difference to my 1700. What place should I buy them from.

I think you would notice a great improvment with 2000 compared to the 1700s. If you're buying matched packs and stuff then you might as well shell out the few extra bucks for the 2400s. If you're not racing and don't care about a little performance (ie. not buying matched packs) then just get the 2000s. Unless you are running mod. I would stay away from the 3000s. The run time is nice, reason why mod. drivers use them, but they lack the punch of the 2000s or 2400s. Buy them from wherever you can get them the cheapest. Try some of the online stores like Tower Hobbies, but always check out your LHS first to get their opinions.

Listen to what TCorzett said. I have two 1500s also and they just don't last. Monday I am going to go get a 2000 and a 2400. Rasio shack sells a cheap 2000, so I heard, that might be cheap enough for you to buy to see if the 2000 is going to be enough to satisfy you. Opinions seem to differ about the qulity of the RS batteries as opinions usually do.

I'm running 3000's for their longer run time and charging convenience(charge any time http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif ) during qualifiers. I switch to 2400's for the mains, they just "seem" to have much more punch. Maybe it's just my imagination..

Thanks alot guys, I appreaciate it. I think I will get a 2000 and a 2400. Do you know where to get 2400's in a cell form. I want to make a 7-cell battery. But if you know of a different brand that sells 7 cell batterys already made please tell me if they are any good or not.

I'd stay away from the RS batteries. I bought a 2000 from them, and it worked for about 3 charges. Then it began to vent gas under charge. It still "works" now, but it's dying slowly. I think if you charged it at about 3 amps to 10.2 volts, you'd be ok.

As far as which battieres are best for backyard bashing, 3000 NIHM's would be perfect for backyard bashing. It may cost more for the charger but you get massive run times. As far as "punch"... the SMH's seem to be "punching" just fine.

You could buy 7 unassembled 6-cell packs and make 6 7-cell packs with them, but that's pretty expensive...
