it is completely custom fabricated by me. i have been working on this for about a year now. 13.75" wheelbase, Nemisis 12s BL motor, 12cells.

You should probably be able to fit a truggy shell on there too if you want to keep the stadium truck look, or if you need more clearance over the shock towers. Looks great though, I always enjoy seeing custom work :D

just a little update:

1. mounted the UBEC.

2. i purchased a Pro-Line 1/8 Crowd Pleazer MBX-5 Body yesterday for this, i hope it fits alright. i know it is going to need a little modification to fit.

That's pretty sweet...but if I could make a couple suggestios, they'd be to lose the tires and aluminum arms. Imex tires are usually harder than the ground you're driving on...and with that much horsepower, grip is already going to be at a premium. Why handicap yourself with lousy tires? And the arms...well...they look great, but if you hit something, plastic arms will give, most likely saving your custom carbon fiber chassis. Aluminum arms won't give...they'll stay solid, and break everything they're bolted to. In this case, that's your custom chassis that you have a ton of time into. It'd be a shame to see such a nice setup junked because you caught a curb or rock or something with an arm and it ripped the chassis in half, ya know?

good point, that is one of the reasons why i left the plastic bulkhead in the mix instead of aluminum. the tires i havent really thought about what i am going to use when this is running, i might go with proline maxx offset dish wheels like on my FLM rustler - not sure yet though.

Are those the regular Traxxas half shafts in back? Any mods to beef up driveline strength? I assume aluminum idler but anything else?

joostin421
02-23-2006, 07:42 AM
they are the plastic traxxas driveshafts w/ steel output yokes.

the transmission is built with: steel top gear, aluminum idler gear, and Coldfusion Racing SS diff gear.

the plastic traxxas driveshafts hold up to a lot of power, i have been running them with Novak ss5800 on 7cells, 2x trucks with lehner 5300's on 7-8cells, and i think that they should hold up fine with the Nemisis 12s on 12cells - only concern may be the stub axles.

I would say the chassis style, looks like duratrax probably the evader, Nice FLM parts, wish i could get my hands on some but here in Canada they are way too expensive. Nice ride makes me jeleous. LOl Take it easy.

He's probably saying that because both your truck and the Evader (and the XX-T from which it's based) have upper decks. The difference is that yours extends the length of the truck, while the other truck's stop after the servo.

okay...... so now i am going to say it is an 1/8 scale 2WD buggy, and i dont think that anyone will disagree with me. so now everyone give me your opinions. it will look a million times better once painted, but i couldnt wait to take pics (not to mention it wont be painted till temps arent below zero).

1. modified and mounted Pro-Line 1/8 Crowd Pleazer MBX-5 Body.

2. removed the 2.2 G-hawg wheel/tire setup.

3. mounted stampede-to-maxx wheel adapters, and mounted the Proline Maxx offset dish wheels and Kamodo Dragon tires (which were supposed to be for my FLM Rustler).

It does look a lot more like a buggy, and a lot cooler in my opinion, with those new tires, wheels, and body. :D Nice work, I already commented about how much I admired the chassis. Looks like a sweet buggy.

thanx guys :D , now lets see if the 2WD 1/8 buggy scene catches on - that would be kewl

not totally accurate but standing on a scale without buggy, then with the buggy i get a 6.5lb difference with 12cells.

i figure that makes sense since the 1/8 buggies i looked at weighed in at 7.5lb.s and more, without fuel, and because they have 4wd with 1 more differential.

i just looked at the lightest one i could find:

Mugen 1/8 MBX-5 ProSpec w/O.S. .21 V-Spec Kit
Length: 19" (480mm)
Width: 12.1" (308mm)
Height: 7.2" (182mm)
Weight: 7.5 lbs (3400g) approx.
Wheelbase: 12.7"-12.9" (324mm-329mm) adjustable

my buggy
Length: 19" to edge of rear tires (19.5" to back edge of wing).
Width: 12.75"
Height: 6.25" to top of rear shocktower.
Weight: 6.5 lbs approx. (with 12cells).
Wheelbase: 13.75"

Well, that is just plain beautiful.

I love custom racers. We dont see enough of them. I built my Mini-T chassis out of Lexan and I love it. I've been thinking of going as far as extending my brushless Maxx using some quarter inch lexan so that it handles better w/ the larger tires.

I'd feel terrible hacking up an XXX-T MF2. You seriously made me consider trading my truck for a brushless Rusty.

Off to ponder at what my next custom creation could be.

custom r/c's are where its at.

will definately be getting video of the buggy when it is running.

i am getting (4x) 7.4 volt (2s) Poly R/C 20C (30C burst (30 seconds)) 3700mah Packs. going to be running 14.8v to the Nemisis 12s.

i also purchased (2x) 11.1 volt (3s) Poly R/C 20C (30C burst (30 seconds)) 3700mah Packs for another project.

i ended up getting a Duratrax Ice charger to charge these bad boys.
