You just need to be a little more careful! The super stock rz motor is no where near as fast as the 10turn motor i've dropped into my tt-01, and have never had that problem. But if your going head on and the wheels are the first to absorb the impact, sure it'll definetly break. I think all the Electric On Road Tamiyas come with the 24mm wheels, but i've noticed that the 26mm have a hard time fitting with rubbing.

I have the Associated TC1 10double on mine, Acutally the super stock motor you've been running, if i'm correctly is slightly faster than a mabuchi 27 turn. I guessing that its probably a 19turn motor.

The tamiya rims are easy to warp/break. The strongest rims I've had must have been speedmind ones. Not sure the name or model, but they are flourescent yellow with many spokes. Go for 24mm. Rims aren't that expensive, in the whole RC scheme of things and they are reusable when the tire wears out.

It's not really the motor, it's what you hit and in what way.

Forget what the pros use for this one. They will use what they are paid to use. Another thing with the pros is they might go for weaker parts that go faster cause if they make a mistake, break or not break, at that level, they ain't going to win in most cases. I haven't put them on the scale but the wheels I described are heavier than the tamiya dish ones. Try them out, you will like the durability!

SpeedMind, Take Off, Sorex, Pit Shimizu... They all make solid rims.

I really don't want to hijack this topic, but since it's on the subject of strong rims, I really could use some recommendations for strong rims that will fit a Duratrax Evader BX. My stock rims have cracked already and I'm looking to get new rims with my future new Dirt Hawgs.
Also, TEM, you say that the rims are reusable when the tires wear out, but how do you do that with glued rims? What step do you take to reuse the rims?

Get out a stanley/xacto knife and go to town :)

Using a knife will retrieve the insert only, cause theres a lot of "tire" left around the rim and makes gluing a new one on difficult. Try simmering the wheel/tire in hot water for 10mins, let cool and pull off the tire. In some cases the tire can be reused (in my cases no, cause it would have been worn to nothing)

Haven't touched offroad for years, so no idea what would be good for the evader.

Alright, thanks! What kind of temperature is safe for rims and plastic parts? I don't want them to warp either... Water boils at 100C, that's too hot I suppose? The water has to be too hot for the touch though right?

If anyone has suggestions on direct fit strong rims for the Evader BX, please post them.

Speed Tech (http://www.speedtechrc.com) carries some of the rims I mentioned.

just get a dish big enough to fit yout wheel/tyre in and boil your kettle, when it goes click pour it over the wheel so it is fully covered by water leave for a minute or two, then take wheel out of water(be careful it is hot) and just work the tyre off the rim, easy.
