I think I'm going to buy an electric touring car to race with, and the TL01 looks like a good car to start with. The one thing I would like to know is can you change the gearing in the car with the stock equipment, or with some after market equipment? Tower's site said that you can only use a 19, 20, or 22 tooth pinion with the car. This seems like a pretty slim choice of ratios for racing.

I've heard that someone makes a totally adjustable motor mount that allows for a range of 14t to 24t pinions. Also there's a speed tuned gear set available (part #53342)

It is true that you can only use those 3 pinion choices, because the way the engine is mounted. I think tamiya does make a racing motor mount that allows you to use way more pinions.

Could you explain the speed tune gears to me I've never heard of them.

Yes you can only use 19,21, and 23 pinion gears..it was real pain. And, also, the stock tamyia pinions seemed to wear down to "saw teath" far to quickly. I got some Robinson Racing steal ones and they are much better. Also some company makes an adjustable motor mount that was featured in an article of 4x4 but i do not recal who makes it or which issue it was, sorry.
