just bought my 3rd RC car. The Tamiya Twin Detonator :) cant wait got it from ebay 'buy it now' $192AU shipped.

Im ordering ball bearings hopefully the come just in time with the kit :)

In regards to the motors I noticed their mountings are parellel so im guessing with the stock motors you just switch the front motor wires around so that motor spins the same way ?

what about modified motors do you do the same thing, wire up the rear motor normal and the front one just switch the wires around ?

sorta confused.

any pointers to a good esc that will run 2x motors on 1 battery all the escs I can only find are for twin batteries and twin motors.

ps i couldnt post this in the truck forums have no idea why.

thanks in advance.

well, i had the intentions of changing everything when i got my Wild Dagger (same truck as the twin detonator). i think your best bet for real power and run-time would be to make a chassis that would accomodate more batteries.

you can run any motor you want like you said by switching the leads to the motors.

if you are going to invest in this truck you may want to try an esc made to handle 14.4v like the Novak EVX, super duty, or Mtroniks super Etruck. then you can use the Multiplex Permax 600 7.2V Motors from Tower hobbies: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEXU3&P=ML

they are the great alternative to the Traxxas Titan motors that come in the E-maxx, and at $8.50/ea. you cant really go wrong - they are even better than the titans.

my wild Dagger is not finished yet, because i have not had time to mount the Lehner 4200's going into it, or purchase the dual 8cell stick packs. here is an example of my truck:

howly smokes did u have to show me that pic im one of those guys that once i got a new kit in my hands i cant help but mod and buy to perfection. I would love to run a dual batt setup actually i just ordered the m.troniks 14.4v truck esc that can handle 2x 11turn motors, guess i will be running the motors on 1 stik pack for now.

Can you point me to a online place were I can get my hands on a chassis shell that has the modified 2x battery holders ? It would be awesome to find one before my kit arrives in like a week im searching hard here but cant find anything.

That has got to be the hottest hoped up thing I have ever seen. very well done. I couldnt buy the carbon chassis u got I wont even ask $$$$$ it looks so expensive

forget to ask is it hard to ajust the timing on modified motors to get the front one to spin the opposite way ? I dont have much experience with modified motors thanks.

just paid for the CF, i designed and cut the chassis myself. if i have the time, and for the right price i would possibly make another one.

You can set timing by loosening screws and turning endbell. Set the front motor to match the timing of the back motor. And you are correct about reversing the leads also.

whats the difference between reversing the leads vs rotating the timing on the motor ? im gonna be using the m.sonic esc so u soldier both motor + - leads to the single + - solder tabs on the esc. Question... if all 4 motor wires are soldiered on the esc. i have the rear motor runing on normal + - but then i reverse the wires on the front motor wont that burn out the esc as it has only 1 soldier tab for both motors ?

reversing the leads will change direction, rotating timing will just change timing (unless it is adjusted 180 degrees which will reverse direction) Someone verify that please.

Both motors can be hooked up to the same post on the esc or can be wired to one motor first and then y'ed or t'ed onto the second motor.

guver is right about the reversing and timing. although if im not mistaken, mods work better for dual motor trucks than stocks. some stock motors don;t take kindly to just reversing the wires

stock motors can be ran backwarsds if the timing is 0.

If you run mod motors, simply switch the polarity of the wires on the FRONT motor, and adjust the timing so that it is retarded the same amount that the rear motor is advanced. However and simpler solution (which gives slightly longer comm/brush life) is to just run both motors at 0 degree timing. For a decent turn of speed, I'd recommend a pair of 14 or 15T mods, possibly on 7 cells. That should get you to up around 27-28mph.

I too have been afflicted by the "mod the guts out of your Dagger" disease:

It isn't officially finished yet, but I'm pleased with how it's coming. Reef, you should come over to RCDaggerWeb.com (not trying to drag you away from here), but it's a specialist site devoted to the Dagger and Detonator...there's a forum, gallery, allsorts. :)

thats hot im getting ideas already very very nice work.

im just gonna run the rear motor + - soldered as normal on the esc solder tab and the front motor solder the oposite on the esc tab that should be fine ?

heres a diagram 0 = esc solder tap

0 0

+ - = motor one
- + = motor two

For the stock motors, that's fine. The motors come prewired with bullet connectors anyway, so switching polarity is easy. :)

oh their modified 17x2 turn trinity speedgems pro motor amber colour.

and the esc is the m.troniks truck esc that does 11x2 turn x2 motors the big one. u gotta solder both motors wires on it and it only has 1x + - solder tabs

2 weeks later after placing my order they are still processing....

i do not recommend anyone to go to www.rcmart.com

they just emailed me (2 weeks later mind you) to tell me that the esc is out of stock... it took them 2 weeks to figure that out and hold on the rest of my order idiots
