It will keep you busy, outa trouble, give you somthing to do instead of play vidio games allday and you'll learn a lot about electronics.
Those are the most convencing ideas that come to my head.
And 11 is the best time to start. (I started when I was 10 two years ago)

umm here's some ideas:
1. tell them It's better than you sitting and watching tv all day.
2. tell them it's a good lifetime hobby.
3. Make sure they understand these are'nt the kind you get from radio shack.
4. don't give up.

1.Tell your parents you can be better at math by being able to understand gear ratios.
2.You can get smarter by understanding electronics
3. Will help improve your problem solving skills
4. Is a safe hobby
5. won't get you in trouble
6.and tell them you will work extra hard at school and do more chores if they buy it.
7.Tell them also that you love them say taht lots of times.
Say this stuff in what ever order you think is best.
#6 is what got my parents to buy my first rc about 3 months ago.
one thing how long have you been studing rc? You need to understand rc pretty good befors you get your first car/truck
I hope that helps,

Tell them they are expensive, time consuming/require lots of maintenance, and you expect them to pay for it. That is what is going to happen when you get one.

you know what...its kinda funny i started out with an old rc10t for my graduation because my parents thought it would be one of those things i would get board with but a few weeks later my dad bought brand new everything for himself!!! then i got a new b3 for my birthday and now we are regulars at the local track!!! not to mention competitive!!

use the education argument. Say it will spur your imagination and teach you about mechanical stuff and electrical stuff. It's true. Also, I have a feeling your parents might think that a "child" dropping 300+ dollars for a "toy" is a waste. well their wrong but don't tell them that. See if you can get them more interested, ask if they would go with you to a local race. There are bound to be both adults and people your age there that could give better arguments.

I HAVE AN ALMOST SURE FIRE SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM.......AND DON'T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, BUT..........RC CARS ARENT CHEAP, IF YOU WAN'T TO SHOW YOUR PARENTS HOW SERIOUS YOU ARE ABOUT WANING A T3 THEN START DOING ODD JOBS FOR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, AND RELETIVES FOR CASH, YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED HOW QUICKELY A LITTLE HARD WORK CAN PAY OFF. MAYBE IF YOU FLIP THE BILL FOR THE KIT, THEY MAY GET YOU THE BATTERIES, AND OTHER MUST HAVES. I'LL BET BY CHRISTMAS YOU'LL HAVE A T3 UNDER THE TREE, AND THE BEST PART IS.......YOU PUT IT THERE!
BY THE WAY, I HAVE SOME YARD WORK TO BE DONE, INTERESTED?

Hey, if your parents ever said to you "You can have anything your willing to work for." Then work for one. It worked for me because my parents knew it would cost a bit of money to get one, but I saved 6 months and they couldn't stop me because I worked for one. I also tell people that I learn constantly from them. And when people ask me why I spend money on RC, I tell them its better than spending it on drugs and stuff. It is also a good father-son type thing. Tell your dad to get one and race with each other. Its fun to beat your dad.

I started at 10 i think,im 12 now and i have four cars,my dad thought i only had three haha! All i didnt pay for and 2 were kits. When i say R/C to my friends they think "Oh a cheapy piece o' plastik",but they are wrong these machines take some skillz to maintain, especially when u like me and break a part every week =) I need a pinion for my B3 and i havent even seen the Hobby store in 2 months!!ACK.Any way Dude just tell them its an extremly fun hobbie that u learn alot from, also you practice hand/eye coordination which is helpful, especially for that belly rubbing head tapping thing....Well good luck!

I started with my first car when I was 5 years old and now that I am 16 I have over 30 cars and trucks all put together with tyco and traxxas, duratrax, etc. I got my first ones for christmas by wining about it till my mom felt like dieing. after about 10 more cars my mom bought them without any arguement. Take it from me I am the master at getting anything I want!
