I'm not blaming Glenn. Just don't want to race with the oval crowd now. The groove in the turns won't be affected in any way. Only a small portion of the back straight. Don't matter. Yall win. I'm just one racer.

Fun fun fun
It'll be ok Anthony Theres no flying field there.
:wow: That is funny.
Jimmy, I don't think you should take it personally. I think what you are trying to do could work. But, the more serious oval guys seem to be less flexible. Just comes down to what Glenn wants to do.

02-18-2008, 10:30 PM
I am not sure about a the Groove thing......but I believe Snowbird Oval run on the same carpet as Snowbird TC......Those oval guys did not seem to go any slower or had a broken groove. The Track in VA Debs.....they did the same the groove seem to be OKay....You would think it would be worst for TC for breaking the Groove......
Maybe people should say thing that would help the track and not hurt the track.......Loose comment only suggest negative behavior......I do not think that comment was to help build a culture at the track.....Its about having fun and getting out of the house.....When people make up excuses why they should not come out they are not supporting the culture(change).
Crazy as it may sound, If it is as simple as TC racers showing up to the track to run off oval because of a groove.....you would think they would all show up everyweek........But it would be nice to see all classes put in work together.

02-18-2008, 11:30 PM
Haha, look what I started! There's a reason why they call me Mojo Jojo!
Why all the jabs about the tc guys not showing up last year? What does this have to do with racing them together on the same day? Only issue I see is the groove. But instead it feels like since tc did not show, they are not welcome any more by the oval crowd.
Blah blah blah.
justin lessard
02-18-2008, 11:43 PM
Glenn doesnt have a problem with running them on the same day, someoval guys simply dont want TC's to run with them, the groove is the excuse.
I say run TC anyway..the oval guys that say they wont come, will prolly come anyway..where else they gonna go?..sandhills? no TRD? no thunderroad? no..if they want to race they will be at rosewood.
the groove wont be effected, and even if it was,its the same for everyone, the fast will still be fast, the slow will still be slow.
its very childish to say "if you run TC, I wont come"
JimmyMac

Sorry all this came out Glenn. I don't want to see you loose these big crowds. So I won't mention Touring Cars again. Just trying to get everyone together to have fun. But that doesnt seem like that's gonna happen for now.

like i said i was just mentioning what was said on the other forum. I will race whatever. Rosewood is close for me. The reason Im not going this weekend is I have to work, has nothing to do with touring cars running. I could care less. I could care less if we started racing at 2 and didnt finish till 11 at night. Christy might say different but it wouldnt bother me. It would just make me feel like the old days and go by the waffle house afterwards. I'm not trying to hurt anyone. Take it ever how yall see it but thats the truth.

Geez, i wake up this morning and this. Shame we all can't get along. I think the easiest thing to do is run oval saturday and touring sunday. This way theres no bickering. Sorry you feel you can't support Rosewood any more Jimmy. I was trying to bring things together on the same day. Guess i should have seen this coming. If touring guys still want to run this sunday, someone let me know by calling me or posting, and i will open at 9am.

All this bickering TCvOval. How many of you guys do this for a living? It would appear that Glenn is the only one. This is a dang hobby. Sounds like a bunch of damn politicians. Talk ,talk, talk, talk but dont agree on anything but to disagree. This is truly sad. I dont run Rosewood often and only on the outdoor track. I would not mind trying road course if the track was big enough for an open wheel class. It and all others I have seen are not wide enough for an open wheel class. It is my choice to run this type of truck/car so I dont do road course. Maybe all of us open wheel guys should lay down in the middle of the track and kick, scream ,do it my way or I wont play. We would fit right in with what I have been hearing so far. Are we having fun yet??????:D

seems odd to me the biggest race in the world runs tc and oval on the same rug and no-one complains. Then again, they practice, then run one way, then switch, practice and run the other way. 800 drivers all on the same rug. Six days of switching the track around, running almost constantly the whole time and no-one bitching. This issue is retarded. I'll be there to run whatever, whenever.
AND, were all blaming the wrong people!! It's the companies making all these different kinds of cars! If they were all the same, no-one would be complaining!

I'll be there to run TC Sunday.
I did have an Oval pan car all ready ro run, and was actually looking forward to it. But since it will not be ran on the same day. Touring car is my first foermost class. But If glen decides to run both on one day I'll bring both and pictch in with a track change.

Actually as far as touring goes, if Chris is gonna run, that means he'll be taking my offer to use my 415. Sooo, unless I can run the 1/12th or the M18 with the tourers on the road, I'll be spectating and running the 'puter. Which is no prob as I'll be running the Losi hopefully against the sliders on Sat.

well if that doesn't let ya know what's what.
I propose that unless there is a DEFINATE comitment (as in prepaid entrance fees!) by at least 20 touring drivers that this subject NEVER be brought up again. With two weeks to get ready to run and not even 5 people will show up, why even bother? This was tried once already and it was a failure. Why bother doing it again? Why put up with all the complaining about supposed track problems? Why hassle with set up and tearing down setups?

Upsetting who? The maybe 5 or 6 drivers that might have showed up?
Oval fell off way back when and now it's back. Maybe the same will happen to touring. Until then, my 415 will still be here with my Bloody Knife, sitting on the shelf waiting for road racing to return. But for right now it's left turns only and I thank Glenn and all the oval drivers for keeping the doors open so I can hang out with a bunch of other people who enjoy having the same kind of fun.

Hadfun today, even bought me a slider and ended up TQ and then finishing 2nd with a front end missing a camber link! These little buggers are fun! Come on out and get one!! And it looks like the questions about Daniels Legend are over. Don Walker went and bought a new motor and they put it in his car before the mains with NO break-in at all and he still managed to put TWO laps on the field. I would say that settles that! He's getting to be that good of a driver!
Congrates to all the other winners and hope to see everyone next week.

My hat is off to Mr. Daniel Ryals for proving the skeptics wrong. Congratulations young man on a super show. :teacher:School is now in session.
I think Daniel does a great job driving too. Just think, he has all of us "old guys" out there he's having to dodge around to make his laps! Him and Justin know how to put it on us.
BUT I had a great time finishing ahead of Ron in Sliders! Learned something new about both it and the Legend car. Speaking of which, I just discovered I almost have enough parts to build a 2nd Legend car. Maybe it's time for a little R&D. And maybe a new driver!

now seems like a good time to explain WHY Daniel's legend appears to have more horsepower than others
CORNERSPEED,I'm sure those who complained noticed daniel's car did much less bouncing through the corner, time spent bouncing sideways is not foward movement,so his car can carry more speed mid-corner and on exit.(on power faster)
also his car does not push (front end slide) to much,so his car and carry more speed into the corner (lift later)
so since he is carrying more speed into, and out of the corner,he will also have more momentum coming onto the straight away, allowing his motor to reach peak rpm faster, thus appearing to have more horsepower than those with imperfect setups. even though he may actually have a motor with less torque and fewer RPM than everyone else.
now it takes a driver who can consistently put the car on a line that allows the car to go through the corner without putting it into a bind (friction) enter wide, clip the apex (center of ice) and exit wide :)

I would love to but i'm still paying on the asphalt and the tractor and the building and the carpet and.....................well you get what i mean. Maybe we could start up a cement fund. lol.
Glenn
Not a bad idea, some of the comments made on this board, about the oval crowd leaving when the carpet wears out, had me thinking about a "carpet fund". I would gladly donate to the fund and I bet there are alot of other oval drivers would be willing to donate.
Rosewood is the best facility in 3-4 states and there is a good group of loyal racers. Thanks Glenn and Ron for your hard work every week!!

I realize that the TC guys stepped up and helped finance the new rug and it was appreciated. I see nothing wrong with the racers helping out with the updates to the track especially since they use it.
It is not the oval guys fault that there is not enough TC to support the track. There are 2 other tracks within 50 miles both of them are oval, eastern NC happends to be an Oval area.

There are MORE than enough to support the track..they have all just decided to go else where. I have been to 3 different tracks in 3 weeks and have seen 10-15 guys at each track. So add them to the 7-8 that we faithful every week or everyother week and to the guys that were 3-4 hours away that would come maybe once a month and the 5-6 guys that just STOPPED racing at Rosewood for what ever reason and the PPL are out there...just can't get them to Rosewood for some reason.
There was alot of talk LAST year about why the turnouts were getting thin at Rosewood, but TWO other tracks were running and have good crowds.
Durham had 15-20 guys most every week, Fayetteville was getting 10-15 guys and both of those tracks ran on SUN. So the talk was where are those guys on Sats. when Rosewood raced?!?!?! Some went Once-Twice and NEVER returned..
Maybe that is the real ???? of the day, where are the 25-30 racers that were there in the beginning of TC racing and the 15- 20 that are still there, now????

Hey Brian, at least you didn't start this one! haha.. Paul did!
I heard a rumor.... just a rumor that there will be another oval track being built up for the "pros". But that's just rumor. Now to help out(advice to) Glenn, I would suggest he find a good way to get rid of the bumps and leaks so he can maintain his crowd. It's not a dig at him or the track. But just some grumplings I've heard from some of those that race there. Take it as you will. Just trying to help. :driving:

Yea, I thought it was time to take some heat off Brian. :) I realize there are certain TC drivers looking for any opportunity to find fault with the current success at the Wood. Like Anthony pointed out there are other places to run and people make their choice based on various reasons.
Our decision to race at Rosewood is because we like the group of people we race with and Glenn runs a fair race. Instead of running at the other oval tracks this summer, we have decided to support Rosewood either on the rug or outside oval.
I heard a rumor that a new carpet track was suppose to be built in the Charlotte area.

My comment was in no way a dig at Rosewood...but just to point out that things COULD have been done along time ago on BOTH sides to keep the racers there.
The racers are out there, but for some reason they weren't coming to Rosewood. I know I personally called 3-4 of the guys that USED to race there and got the same response from all when I ask them to come run some TWO years ago when the turnouts were getting light.
But I saw the same things happen with TC that I saw with the Off-road.....nothing was done different in either case.
As for being flexible as Laurie said, thats all good for the ppl that just want to go have somewhere to race on a weekly basis. But for those of us that want more out of the Hobby its just not worth giving up what I have to go race oval.
But for the On-road guys that want a place to race....there IS a new carpet track and asphalt track being built right now in Charlotte. So you will have somehwere to race, you just have to show up!!!!
The carpet track is looking at an Aug. starting date! It will be the same size as the Birds track with a sub-floor. The asphalt track can start within a few weeks, if enough show intrest now. If not it will be about a month or so before that is up and running.
Also for the on-road guys that still come on here and read it, King RC is racing asphalt on the 15th of this month. PM me if you need more info.
No need to clog up this with On-road info...

All was fine and forgotten until Paul had to make a dig and bring up some stuff. If he had not, this TC vs Oval would not have been brought up again.
I'm not just gonna sit here and let him make puck shots at the TC guys because "they" won the right to race oval and we didn't. Remember, some of us left over TC guys wanted to run on the same day. But the oval guys whined about the groove and not gonna show up if we did. So I decided not to for Glenns sake. I was gonna give oval a try. But if this is how they are... no thanks.

AMEN Jimmy!!!
I seem to remember a few years ago when there were a FEW 3-4 guys that wanted to run oval on the same day as the on-road. Never heard one on-road guy say they wouldn't come if that happened! They ran Oval and On-road same day! It wasn't the racers who ran them off then!
But I guess the "few" on-road guys couldn't get that same thing in return...
I could understand not wanting to "upset" the oval groove maybe the weeks leading upto the Birds. But the week the On-road guys wanted to run would have been NO TESTING for ANY carpet OVAL race with in 2 months.. and there would have been ample time to get the groove back for the Memorial race upcoming.

bumps, what bumps? That floor is about the flattest concrete slab I've ever seen. You all shoulda raced there when the seams between the slabs were raised up and really wide. Glenn (and I a little) did a lot to make the floor flat when the dirt left. And what track anywhere is without some kind of imperfection? Not even Nascars tracks are all perfect. Or Cart, Or F-1, or any others. Durhams got a killer bump at the end of the front straight but does anyone bitch about that? The Hobby Barns oval has got a killer crack in it that if you run it backwards, you'll break the chassis! Anyone bitchin? Smitty's track was too small with a lot of fuzz, Virgina Beach used firehose to layout the track, the list can go on. The point is, If you know there is an imperfection, deal with it.
If it's me anyone has a problem with, come tell me about it. I don't read minds. I can't try to fix it if I don't know what the problem is.

Come on Jimmy try the oval PLEASEEEEEEE
I think some of the problem with running tc and oval together was the extra time it would add to the overall day. We are usally finishing up around 7:30 and adding about 1 1/2 maybe 2 hours to that was too much for some of the people that travel. Anyway I am sure I will get to race with yah on some Sunday's.

I just want to make a few comments. Rosewood Speedway has under gone alot of changes over the years. It is not by any means the best track in the country or have i said so. However, we have made tremendous strides in improving the facility. The roof was covered with fibered coating by me last summer and has stopped 99% of the leaks that were there. Just recently, a small one has developed in one of the skylights and will be taken care of this week. No other leaks to my knowledge. Keep in mind this building was put up in 1980. The bathrooms have been inlarged and brought up to code with new utilities for all including handicapped. The hobbyshop building was added in 05 and is stocked. I personally rented a concrete machine and ran over the whole floor before the carpet was put down after the dirt was removed from the offroad track. It has a few minor bumps and I am looking into the cost of putting down an EPOXY flooring to level everything as smooth as glass before the next carpet replacement. Down the road, I am trying to get the walls insulated and covered with some sort of sheeting. Drop ceiling with better lighting and an upstairs pit area for more pits. These are some of the things needing looked at down the road and when i can afford them one at a time. If the building was paid for, some of these would already be done. But you know something else to keep in mind. A facility is only as good as its people. Yes I have made mistakes in running my business as all business people have. Will i make more? As sure as the sun comes up in the morning. But I do care about all the drivers and my business both. Everyone knows you cant have a track without drivers and you cant have drivers without a track. I think we all should do what we can to promote any kind of RC racing and stop the bickering. I don't think Pauls comments were meant as a dig to anyone. He merely was suggesting a fund for new carpet down the road. I also want to thank ALL the racers that have supported Rosewood now and in the past. The future of our facility is in the hands of only one and he will decide. I only ask we try to be civil to each other and maybe we can improve things over the next few years. Anyway, my two cents and i will continue to do what i can to promote this hobby.
Now on to better things. $150.00 to be given away this weekend. Come on out and race with the Rosewood family. Don't forget the Colombo Family Memorial Race March 15th. Thanks
Glenn

AMEN Glenn. Preach on brother.:D
And I'd like to say thanks again, Glenn, for all you do.
You know, guys, it really doesn't have to be a "us vs them" situation. I've been going to Rosewood since the early 90's, and have been offered help from alot of guys over the years, from oval, to off road, to on road, and now back on oval. Glenn has always been there to help when I needed it. And I've felt like I could ask almost anyone for help, and get it. Rick and Dick Dixon, Ron, in the beginning, right on through on road, Laurie, George, Brian, so many people I can't recall all their names. I've enjoyed talking with Mark and Jimmy Mac during on-road, and I remember one night, years ago, while racing spec-touring, and hitting everything on the track at least twice, (I still do!), I broke a steering link on my XXXS, and Glenn didn't have one in stock, so I was going to be done for the day. I didn't know Anthony well, but there he was, pulling the part I needed off of one of his own cars, and offering to loan it to me so I could race the main. I didn't even ask him. I'm sure he doesn't remember it, but I do, and still appreciate the help to this day. And if I have problems this weekend, I could probably pick any of the oval guys to ask for help.
Now I myself prefer oval, just because I seem to do a little better on it than on-road. But that's not to say I wouldn't try on-road again. I know Glenn wants to try and please everyone, and would try and plan another on-road race or races if the guys would contact him and work it out.
I think it would be a good idea if everyone just stopped posting the oval vs on-road stuff here. If you want something changed, if you don't like the way the track is being run, or if you want to share your opinion on something, PM, email, call, or go see Glenn! He is the owner, and is the only one with say so on the track. And if he decides to make any changes, let him alone announce it on here so everyone will know.
I really don't think Brian or Paul meant to try and start anything, and I think everyone on both sides are hyper-sensitive to what's going on and being said. If you just share whatever is on your mind, with Glenn only, and not post this or that on here or on other forums, I think things will calm down. I think we should really support each other, no matter what we want to race.
Oh, um, I would say that's my 2 cent worth, but I need it to buy gas for my Lightning....

Also, it looks like I might not be there this weekend. Turns out my sister was going to come to go to a freinds wedding, but the flight was cancelled so it looks like I'll be bringing my mom to it instead of Julie.
I'll also be haveing a stuff-in-the-shed-must-go-sale soon. If I haven't used it in the last 6 months, it's up for grabs, and the prices will be lower than most might think. More on this later.
