haha well like i said before. IM an oval racer at heart, but this is more fun to me than anything. I went and tried the gas oval thing, didnt enjoy it as much, probably cause of the gas stuff. nothing against it, but i just didnt like it. personally id like to just run touring on oval . with a few minor changes u could make one fly on the oval. like i said spec tire, all 4 tires same on all 4 corners. everyone has same compound. no offset chassis. has to be "stock" touring chassis. also something that is done in big cars put a left side weight limit on the cars where people arent gaining advantages by trying to hang weight off of left side. there are ways of making any class fun. personally for me the touring would be fun cause of all the tuning options. but like i said im going to race whatever is the biggest class. im in this for the fun. i want to do good, i want to be competitive, but it dont matter to me if i tear a arm off the car it cost like 10 bucks to fix. ive spent too many years chasing race cars and getting too upset about it all, im just wanting to have some fun. As christy tells me ILL watch babies crawl if i think i can make a race out of it. i even watch the pig races at the fair.

mark thats y im saying put a max left side weight on it and maybe a minimum right side weight no matter what the car. then a car like myself with the weight down the middle cant just stack all electronics on left side and all the lead on the left side and have an advantage over the 90% of touring cars with batts on right side. this could be a fun class but it needs to be made a spec style class. maybe even everyone have the same style body. Call it IROC haha. but that way with about maybe 30 mins week to week u could run the same car same batts same motors. all setup and all driver thats my suggestion. take it for what its worth. i just think it would be a fun class and save us all a little money in the long run.

Why dont you look at the rules they use at the snow birds and that will give you a base to go from and then you can adjust it so you can win every week:D

Good run today Paul in 12th scale, Justin in Mini, sorry I don't recall who won 10th scale but it looked like a good race. Thanks to Laurie for the temporary "ICE", we should have the real "ICE" next time we run oval. We had a nice turnout for short notice.

hey mashburn. WHat rule did you guys run for the 1/12. Was it stock. I am looking to have a 1/12 by the next oval weekend. Been working to get the gen-x finished for next weekend. I should be ready. Would have been there if I wasn't locked away in a room trying to finish a big project for school for Monday.

How many turned out. Any of the old faces from sandhills?

Jewett For right now we are running stock with 4200's but with 4600's legal we may start seeing those pretty soon. Andy Bohen and Jim Rufiange were the only two yesterday but they had the oval masters warm up race yesterday for this weekend so i I believe they will be there in two weeks.
There was 5 in mini's 4 stock and 5 for 1/12th. I feel that was a real good turn out for such a short notice. What do you have to run oval in 1/12th?
Believe or not i ran my Gen x yesterday and it done real good. But i'm going to get me a Razor two hopefully one day. see ya there and be PREPARED.:D

It was great to have an oval track again! Thanks Glenn for taking the chance, I hope it works out. Nice job Paul, wish I could have stuck around, I think we could have had a good race. I think if we get the word out, we can get the numbers up and have some great racing.

We ran one of the stock 1/10. It was a 13.5 and 4200 cells. We struggled to get the right tire combination. Ended up with a mix of tires. I believe the correct combo with RF (black) LF (purple) Rear (white or pink). We had a excellent time. Hopefully next time we will have more of the 13.5 with 4 cells instead of 10.5 with 6 cells.

Thanks Glenn for giving us a super nice facility. Also thanks to all the locals for helping to switch the track from TC to Oval.

Thanks everyone for coming out. I had a ball running oval again. Not a bad turnout for short notice. I think it will get better as cool weather comes in. Thanks everyone for the help on the track. Thanks Laurie for the temp ice, it worked great. The mini coopers worked great in stock trim with no changes from asphalt except tires. The 1/12 class is the bomb. I'm calling crc and get 3 or 4 of those cars monday. Stock motors and 4 cell was great for that car on that size track. 1/10 stock oval is going to use 13.5 brushless and 4 cell for those thinking of running that class. Any other class you the driver want to run, get three guys together and we will start a new class for you to run, ie: trucks, 1/18, touring, mini T, legends, whatever. The same goes for touring racing. If you want to start a new class in touring get 3 guys together and just do it. Ok, this coming saturday we are touring racing so come on out and have some fun. The track layout is already done by the oval drivers. Slite change but for the better. Congrads to the winners and we will see you all next saturday. Man, that racing brought back memories of our start at The WOOD back in 1991. We packed the house and had drivers such as Greg Honeycutt, Kevin Champion, Jeff Ruffage and a lot more. It brought tears to my eyes to see guys racing on the flat oval once again. Was glad to see guys smiling again. I know i was. Old Gary Moore was there doing it again, and says Dick Dixon will be coming. Some of the old crowd coming back. Funny, what goes around does come around. lol. C YA.

two of the 1/10ths were running 4-cell and 2 were running 6-cell. Not much difference between them. Pretty close racing for much of the day. Had fun for the first time in awhile and finished I think 4th or 5th in Mini's. Hey, any time you leave with a smile, you had a ggod day. And Andy's didn't mess up Pauls oder either!! WooHoo!!

Dee, i changed from slicks for the asphalt to the treaded tires for carpet on my car. They were hooked up and ran great.

Chance playing Halo3?? I haven't bought it yet. But my fav game (series) just came out the other day. Call of Duty 4. I'm glad to hear the original crew of CoD2 worked on this one instead of the crew that did CoD3. I didn't like the feel of CoD3. Plus CoD4 has high marks already in the reviews. Blah blah blah.

So where are the pics of the oval track?? Would like to see some. Has Justin went back to Corally yet? Or has he been racing his faster '007 US spec? When was the last time Ron threw down his car? Who is faster on the oval, George or Laurie? Does George wish it was asphalt season yet? What car is George racing? XRay or Corally? Do IB4200's still suck in reliability? What's the hot setup in Mini Oval? How is everyone doin?

IB4200 are out of production now i think..everyone is on EP cells,much more reliable..plus 4600 are ROAR legal now

Gears of War is just awesome! I let my nephews play it on my 360 one weekend. They are like 10 years old. I had to help them through a few spots in the game. But they played Co-op and finished it that weekend. Co~op is fun. I wish CoD had this mode.

Laurie spoke with Greg Honeycutt the other day and Greg said our new "Ice" would be ready for this weekend and that he may be racing and that he knew of several others who would most likely be there.

Laurie and I will most likely run 12th scale a few weeks more until we can get our 10th scales up and running.

Glenn got in 4 CRC Razor II"s this past week and sold all of them, so it looks like we could have 10-15 12th scales also.

What time does the carpet oval start on Saturday? Also, what should be the largest class? I've always ran dirt and concrete nitro oval. I want to try my hand at carpet and electric.

Did you get my email on Friday? I saw James at the Barn saturday if he does not go to Cherrville, he may drive one of our 1/10th cars. I will have another one if you want to take some laps to see if you like it. Practice 9-2:00, races start at 2:00. Largest class will probably be 1/12th scale with between 10-15 entries. These things are a blast. We are just starting to run them and don't have the setup quite yet.

You get 1 talent point for each additional level gained after lvl 9..so u have 21 now..press N and I think that opens the menu to where u spent talent points..DPS (damage per second) is best for a hunter

Well, I'm not sure it would help my back or not. The lowest disc in my back looked like a flat tire in a MRI I had a few years ago. A cortizone shot helped alot, but it's catching up with me again.

I said I wasn't going to get into the oval racing, :rolleyes: but seeing this thing on the track today was pretty cool. I don't want to make a big investment into oval racing; but I have some spare electronics and might consider running something like this.

We used to run the spec motors and any four cell pack at Smitty's track, and they were pretty fast. But whatever most of the guys want to run would be fine with me, spec, stock motors, and it's even been suggested running silver can motors. Alot of guys would already have four cell packs for other classes, or would be willing to buy some, but hardly anyone would want to buy spec packs just for this class.

I want to thank everyone for coming out to race saturday. Congrads to the winners: Hank in Mini, Laurie in Stock Touring and Tim Schurr(slakr) for the B main win. Special mention for Alex Culpepper for third in the A main. Nice driving by all.
OK......... this coming saturday is oval night. Bring your Legends and we (drivers) will decide on motor and batteries. Please hold your oppinion unless you are going to run that class. I will look into getting the Legends cars and parts. Hope we have a good turn out for oval. The track is allready set up thanks to George, Laurie, Hank, Marshall, Todd and Ron.. A special thanks to George for coming friday and vacuming the track and setting it up for touring. I really appreciate the help. Also, don't forget, we have 1/12 stock and 1/10 stock classes along with minis. We have a 13.5 brushless class and we will establish A N Y[U] class you (the drivers) want to get going. Im all for Spec Motor or Silver Can Motor, but i'll be running old hand me down 4cell 3800 and 4200 hundreds. Not going to run it if I have to go out and buy spec batteries that I can't use anywhere else.

Everyone should have old 4cell packs and old 6cell packs that can be broke down into 4cell packs.

I found a place that sells Bolink legends cars and parts. Yes I agree, i think the class will grow if it is 4cell packs of any MAH up to 4600s. Roar has approved them for everybody else. Maybe some of the 1/10 and 1/12 guys will run legends if they can use their batts for both classes.

Like Dee, I also run 3300NiMH in the legends. The batteries used Saturday were the same ones I got from Glenn almost a year ago. I had to bump them quite a bit just to wake them up. Hadn't been used in a while.

I do think we all need to keep in mind that the objective is to have fun and enjoy ourselves.

Hey Ron, who taught you how to spell, hehe. If you guys choose not to run spec packs in the Legend class, I can hook those of you that need them up with a few packs. I have every battery that I have bought the last five years, so I could make up quite a few 4 cell packs. Lmk, I cant go this weekend, but I could drop them off at the next on-road race.
Had fun yesterday, I just need to re-learn how to set-up and drive a touring car again. George, I am gonna put your set-up on the x-ray and try that. Could just put the steering linkage on the back since that is the end that wanted to lead around each corner, lol. Not giving up though.
Laurie or George, what profile are yall running on Novak BL system? Also did you change the dragbrake freq.,etc? Thanks.
Todd, had fun with the mini too, slicks will work. Just glue up the sidewall of the front tires so it wont traction roll, thanks to Jimmy Mac, full dope on rear tires, dope inside edge of fronts only. Anybody else out there with a mini, just go to Tamiya site and look for the BMW mini cooper TCS setup guide by David Beale, do that and you are hooked up.

There is going to be a nice size class of 1/12 4cell brushed stock also 1/10 running BRL (Brushless Racing League) 13.5 and 10.5. Minis and legends also.

Why? Didn't you loose your sponsorship for switching cars again? Do you know that TA05 arms are different than Evo IV arms? And Evo IV arms are different than Evo V arms? I'm not sure where mine are right now. And I don't know if I have enough. Or a full set at that. If those are the arms you are talking about. Because Tamiya has a short arm set. But it's for TA04 (but fits TA05). It shortens the wheel base. Not shorter arms. Tamiya has LWS or Light Weight Short arm set. Xray arms are shorter though.

I haven't raced with you guys in a couple of years, but I'm planning on getting back into the swing. I'm glad to hear the indoor track is an oval now. I'm going to try and come down in a couple of weeks for the next one if I have the money. I have a Legends car, complete with Legends batteries and Legends motors, but the batts and motors are probably 10 years old. I also have a 1/10th oval car. As soon as you guys figure out what's going to be run in the different classes, please post on here. I'll have to buy motors no matter what, but I may be able to make some 4 cell packs out of my old 6 cell packs to run Legends. I'd like to run 1/10th, but I don't think I can upgrade to Lipos and brushless stuff right now.

There's 3 of us "dirt oval" guys heading over this week to try our hand on carpet(13.5bl w/ 4 cell). We might just shake our cars down, i don't know about staying for the race this week. We're running a dirt oval race Sat. night.

Just found out my son is playing in the Christmas parade in Snow Hill this Saturday, at 2:00. I'm going to the "Wood" afterwards, hope I can make at least one heat race and the main.

17.5 would be better, 13.5 would be pretty fast in 1/12. Everyone in the class in running brushed motors right now.

I say if you want to run 1/12th brushless it needs to be it's own class unless everyone is going to run it. Just not going to work running them together on oval.

What is the roll out that everyone is running on touring with brushless? Lipo if possible in a T2.

Brushless motors contain a chemical know to the state of california to cause cancer and other reproductive harm:D

and so does every other rc item we al own..LOL

Hank, I haven't stopped by your shop yet because well.... I wasn't able to "fix" my car because by some strange reason.. my CEL went out. I've been waiting for it to come back on to do my fix. But it hasn't. SOOoo, I will stop by your shop tomorrow to see if it'll pass inspection. If you are around. I'll try and call to see if you are around before I head over there.

Terrell, I dunno yet. I haven't been by Uchiyama to see any body. So I haven't seen Yuka yet. If I don't stop by there tomorrow, I'll stop by either Glenn's or Ron's and drop it off with them. As for MySpace... I am clueless to what you or Yuka might be talking about??? Of course I'm usually clueless about everything... So don't let that surprise you haha.

Anyways, I'll more than likely be in Goldsboro for a few months before I move again. I'm not a big fan of Ohio. And I can't go to Boston until my friend recovers from her kidney transplant. Hopefully she'll make a full recovery given her situation. But I won't be racing. Can't afford it right now. So I'll just be stopping by the track every weekend. And maybe calling a few races if they let me.. :D Hopefully I'll catch yall soon. L8Rz!
