No press release, I'll post some stuff later. Talk amongst yourselves...

The 4-2 battery split is interesting. What is the chassis made of?

looks to be derlin or un dyed plastic under the aluminum.

aluminium or magnesium it looks like. if it's the latter, it'll be hugely expensive...

That looks pretty damn cool

Its magnesium. Keep in mind that it is a prototype. They used magnesium since it has similar properties to molded graphite which is what they would use on a production car.

It reminds me the mid-motor RC10 conversion kit from Tekin in the old days... Hopefully this is not another flop.

this will be a conversion for a b4 if I remember correctly as the front end is from a B4. big discussion on this over on there site at www.4wdrc.com

Use to mid-mount the motor in old losi buggies to race oval, oLd sK00L

That should make it turn and eliminste any push.. Notice the amount of toe in those rear arms!!

The B4 already has too much front bite... seems this would make it worse. What the B4 needs is more rear traction.

Looks like milled aluminum to me. Magnesium just seems to fancy of a material for a small r/c company.

Anyhow, THIS is how a 4wd buggy should look.

isnt it 2wd

my b4 has plenty of rear traction. and I have it on stock setup and a pretty low bite track.

what body would you use for that bc it deffinetly isn't the same as a regular b4 but that looks really cool. where is the gear cover is there not one?

Keep in mind that the buggy you see in the picture is nowhere near what the finished product will be. I don't think a kit with a magn/alum chassis and aluminum shock towers would go over very well. :D

We've got a winner!

Yeah, I didn't notice the front end, but based my assumption on the sticker ( X6 ) and rushed in writing my first post.

Nice looking design, keeps the weight centered, the motor is inside away from dirt, and it's something different.

Boy, I miss my B4 :(

That's actually a neat design. My only complaints would be the amount of toe (for some reason, that much just really bothers me, I dunno) and the battery set up. Other than that, it's actually very neat looking, and keeps the motor from getting pounded from rear end crashes or people riding up on your tail.

haha thats sick! greg said he had something up his sleeve....haha

tallyrc

i think it only has the normal amount of toe, it just looks crazy becasue of the angle it is pictured and the arms are drooping down. pick up a b4 look at it at that angle. if you were looking straight down on it it wouldn't look that radical i think...

ErikRC10
02-05-2006, 02:46 PM
yea that looks like it has the same normal 3 degree toe that all b4's have.

it does say in one of the captions that 4 degrees is optional rear toe... seems like a lot..

Well this isnt your average buggy though, now is it?

OutFrontFrames
05-26-2006, 09:00 AM
When you have that much weight centered in the car, it should pivot with ease, even at high speed. The 4 degrees of rear toe is probably to keep that from happening as easy.

tallyrc
05-26-2006, 11:33 AM
so they design a car that more easily rotates, then add rear toe to counter it? just seems odd, but as the other poster said this isn't your average buggy.. i kinda hope they take what they learn here and sometime in the future build a ground-up new car so we have an option to losi in the american-made rc car market.. i must say it looks far more impressive in the photos of the new composite parts than the prototypes...

Are those Losi Shocks? They look like them to me

yep, losi shocks

Such a drastic change of weight balance and right before li-pos are set to replace outdated battery tech. The lighter li-po batts will certainly change the balance equation. That coupled with brushless tech. Don't brushless weigh about an ounce more than brushed motors?

I think some design changes may take place with associated and losi after li-pos and brushless becomes standard. Not sure how the x-6 will come out when everything is sorted out.

tallyrc
06-01-2006, 04:38 PM
honestly, the mid motor very well suits the lipo tech since there will be a major loss of centralized weight (there would be a heavy rear weight bias) since brushless are heavier.. getting the weight back forward and centered is probably a good thing. the balance point on todays 2wd offroaders is probably about two infront of the rear shock towers... a mid motor and lipos transverse as far back as possible in what's let of the chassis should be about right..

Ever thought about how to fit lipos into a chassis shaped like that? Standard packs won't fit, the the cells are long, thin things so you can just dismantle a pack and break it up. Would have to get smaller cells and build the battery in blocks.

To fit LiPo's you could move the servo beside the battery like Tamiya did with the 4WD Dark Impact.

i haven't driven one yet but I have seen one run in person, I actually raced one, that thing was DIALED!! it looked like a carpet touring car that jumps going around the track, it was so hooked up, now that is not to say the b4's couldn't hang with it but it left the bk2s in the dust.

It looks like a nice vehicle. Really says alot too that they went with the B4 front end versus the losi. I wonder if Losi is going to really do a full redesign.

We have a local running 2.
1-In mod
1-In stock
He seems to do really well in both classes and always speaks highly of the car.
Claytone's car soaks up the rough stuff and just keeps going.
Definately Different.
