I have 3 modified motors, a 10 turn Cobalt, a 12 turn Reedy Ti Worlds, and a 13 Turn Orion Revolution. Ever since I got the Orion, I've been a little confused regarding when you should rebuild it (cut the comm, change the brushes, etc.) in a fairly competitive atmosphere. For my stock motors, the Cobalt, and the Reedy, I cut the comm after every 5 ot six runs and change the brushes every other week (or once a month if I use the long lasting brushes..). I've heard the Orion can go 20 to 30 runs before a comm cut...I've run 20 times with it before noticing degraded performace..but how often do die hard racers cut the comm on Orions?? And how long do the endro brushes last vs the high speed brushes ??

I may attach a Deans pigtail to the Orion so I only have to worry about sodering wires to that stupid thing once and never again (I burned the tip of my finger with my sodering iron one time trying to get the stupid wires on it  ).. Does anyone else here use Deans connectors for the motor connection with success?? They seem to be fairly durable and efficient on the battery side...at least for me...

Any Comments??

I use Deans connectors on all my motors and batteries. But I just race at the club level.

Deans are great for that.

13t revolution should go many runs without a cut/brush change, esp in a buggy. Just check it and clean it every couple of runs to make sure. When you notice it slow down, or before a more important race clean it up so that you don't have to worry about it.
