Me and my friend were wondering if scale ment how big it is to the real thing??? Or how detailed it is to the real thing. :confused: p.c. My friend thinks he's right allllllllll the time

Hi Kingsnake,
The term "scale" basically refers to the difference in size between the model and the aircraft. Example- a 1/6 scale model is 6 times smaller than the full scale plane in dimensions. As far as detail, many builders and manufacturers "butcher" the model to the point that it may be questionable as a scale model. When you go to a scale competition, it is normal to see the extra effort put into many details to gain the better score. At the same time, a simple stick and tissue rubber band powered model covered with colored tissue can be (and often is) a scale model of some full scale aircraft. In general, if you can recognize the design in the model, it would qualify as "scale".
