The mamba 8000 kv is very fast with a 3-cell lipo (60mph) but if you are totally starting of in mini-rc I believe the 6800 kv on 2-cell will be a great starting point.

And if your not then a 3-cell from what I've seen is awesome. Here's a video http://beatyourtruck.com/videos/BYTmini-t-pavement.zip. A 3-cell apogee 1000 mah or 1500 mah should be fine.

Any charger that can charge at 1C should be fine.

Edit: Have You ever owned a lipo before?

I had a micro rs4 that had tons of mods and was top ending around 40( calculated by drive ratio and rpm) I am new to the lipo scene but I know a few odds and ends about them. (mostly from airplane forums) I am rebuilding my nitro 4 tec at the moment and am getting a 3 channel radio next week and the micro is my next venture. my concern is how I am going to get all of my mini gear to germany this summer(that is the reason I am going mini and brushless)

I am looking at the m18 and the truck version of it. but the racer version of the m18 is sweet looking and I have heard that it performs great. it reminds me of the penguin rc chassis layout for the micro rs4.
well thanks for the help and I will be chatting with yall some morelol

Little write-up I did....

Here is what we recommend based on motor KV (RPM per V) in the 20mm diameter 1/18 th scale brushless motors. This is applicable for Tekin Mini Rage and Castle Creations Mamba systems.

Mamba Sport Package – 4200 KV – 2-Cell or 3-Cell Apogee of any size. The larger capacity the pack, the more run time. This system is best for new electric drivers. It provides plenty of run time balanced with more power than the stock brushed system could ever provide.

Mamba Performance Package/Mini Rage Performance System – 5400KV – 2-Cell or 3-Cell Apogee of any size. This is our preferred racing choice. The system is perfect with a 2-cell 830 pack on tight tracks with lots of turns or a 3-cell 1050 pack for short oval tracks.

Mamba Competition Package/Mini Rage HI-Performance System – 6800KV – 2-Cell 830+ Apogee, or 3-Cell 1050+ Apogee. Now we’re starting to get “hairy” in power. We’ve personally run the 6800 Mamba with a 2-cell 830 in our Associated 18T on an indoor carpet road course. Even with the 2-cell 830, there’s enough power that too quick of a trigger pull can cause wheel stands, which might be great for intimidation down the back straightaway, but it makes it very hard to steer in the corners. This system should only be run on very large fast tracks.

Mamba Competition-X Package/Mini Rage Extreme System – 8000KV – 2-Cell 1050+ Apogee, or 3-Cell 1570+ Apogee. Run these systems only if you have deep pockets and can afford massive parts breakage. Expect to destroy driveline parts regularly, and chassis components/bodies frequently from “sudden abrupt stops”, AKA, crashing. We only recommend these motors for all out speed runs. Using this motor without wheelie bars is a waste of time. We would recommend a Drag Racing chassis from http://www.grandmotorsports.com/ for use with this system.

Granted you can run any battery of a true 10C discharge in place of Apogees.

yeah I read that on the mamba site. Very useful but I am in the decision making stage. I am leaning towards offroad and was wanting wheelies when ever at what ever speed but I am at aloss for finding strong enough diffs. is the associated truck a good choice over the x ray or what is the best. thanks alot

I have the RC18T with a Mamba 6800 running on a 6-cell (soon to be 8) GP1100 pack and it RIPS! As far as differential durability I'm not sure which is stronger. But I have seen a lot of talk about people taking the ball diffs out of the RC18 and installing them in the M18. To be honest I'm afraid of what 8-cells is going to be like in this thing. It already burned all the tread off of my tires and I've only ran it 5-6 times since I installed the Mamba. They are LITERALLY bald. All four of them.

Which one is better, I'm not really sure. I really like the looks of the M18, and if I were to buy another 1/18th scale car/truck, it would definately be an X-Ray.

so far parts support sucks around here and the parts cost more than my nitro touring car. it is deffinately going to be associated 18t. I will get it here in a couple of weeks
chargers for the lipos are all dc and that sucks. I dont want to spend a hundred dollars on the charger then have to go and buy a hundred dollar power supply. Gues I am going to have too
thanks

The differential can probably hold up alot better because the car isn't as haevy as say a 1/10th scale so there isn't as much force on the gears.
