This can be solve using Tevenin and Norton substitution. Since this is an exam I hope you know how to do them. All you need to know is what is the current level entering the "rest of the circuit" and it says that you can assume a resistance level of 2.3K so just place the resistor of 2.3K and you can solve for nodes or mesh method to find the current that you need. What I would do is do the Tevvenin subtitution to replace the current source in the first circuit, then solve. Hope this gives you a hint on where to start. Sorry not to help you more but this is for an exam and you need to know this for your future.
