View Full Version : A-arm confusion...(?)

Five minutes after the end of assembly the other day our TC3 was in need of repair... not a problem, the rear a-arm broke and I'd already had a pair of graphite replacement ones here... the problem I found is that the stock/composite ones have the (vertical) hole for the set screw in them and the graphite ones don't... they're identical in every other way... I'm assuming this means that I either have to stick with the composite (rear) arms or upgrade to the graphite/factory chassis to use the graphite arms...?
(waiting patiently for that Horizon order to show up Monday.. sheesh)

Not quite certain what hole you mean. The one with which you set the droop, or the one that locks in the hinge pin?
Either way, both graphite and composite should be identical. I have replaced that rear arm many times (mainly because I forget to check to see if that hinge pin came loose), and have never noticed anything missing.

The one for the droop.. it just isn't there on the graphite arms...

it will be fine to use, i doubt it will affect anything unless your worried about the .05 oz. uneven weight from that screw :)

I have purchased many graphite A arms, all had the hole drilled for the droop adjustment.
And yeah, you DO need it, else you won't be able to make a very important (and easy) suspension adjustment, and your arms will probably be set too low.

LasangnaCat, most likely you bought a pair of arms that were made before Associated made the modification to them(adding the droop adjustment). There are probably still some out there, the shops will keep them on the shelves until they're sold, & then you'll see them stocking the newer ones with the droop screw holes..... :)

Dunno, they're "Factory Team" arms, but I just assumed that that was because they were graphite.. the (closest) hobby shop here is pretty evil in general though, so these very well might have been here since the dawn of time... it's cheaper to order things over the web and pay for shipping than it is to walk in and buy things over the counter there...
