If i'm going to paint a car using XXXmain masks and i wait it say orange with black stripes. If i paint the orange first can i back it with silver then the black for the strpies so the black won't mess up the orange?

paint your stripes first, that way you don't have to worry about the black bleeding threw the orange and silver backing. if i was painting it i'd even let the black dry fully before spraying the next color just to avoid the colors bleeding together or anything like that

you can paint the lighter colors first. Although its not the preferred method it does happen all the time. Your on the right track with the silver backing, just be sure to lay the silver on in several (at least two, three would be better) LIGHT coats letting each coat dry completely. When you start with the black, you want to be very carefull to not spray it on heavy. Several LIGHT coats here as well, if you spray heavy coats IT WILL bleed thru.
Hope This Helps

If your not convinced, you can look at my Mini-T in this months paint comp. The graphics were sprayed first ( notice the white in the middle ) backed with several coats of aluminum base then the orange was sprayed. there is no bleed thru.

not really, either one could be used effectivley. Just depends on what you want the end result to look like.
If you want to get an idea how it'll look in the end, cut a clear soda bottle in half, paint up one side backing with silver and the other backing with white.
Good Luck.

yeah its all about prefferance like 2nd generation said experiment a bit depending on the outcome you are looking for. depending on the color u are using u can experiment with like colors also try gold.
i recently did a 69 charger body with some flames around the flames i sprayed fluorescent yellow, the base color i was shooting was flourescent green around the flames where the yellow was sprayed is much brighter than the rest of the body that is backed in black wich darkened the flourescent green giving me a easily achieved light dark contrast for added diminsion of the flames. i am new to painting bodies and im experimenting alot with effects and color contrasts rarely seen in the hobby. i do have an artist background so i know what i want just dont always know how to get there.
