Does Eny One Drive a Tamiya Touring Car?
A TRF 414, TA04-Pro?
I drive a TRF 414 Limited Edition and, it's the fastest car on the track. It's so good to drive and the "Drive Train"(is this right for what u call the belts and the pullys, and the parts the motor pulls?) is the best u can get. Go Tamiya.

I have a fully-optioned TA04 and a TRF414M. They are both terrific cars, but the 414M has a slight performance advantage because of higher precision of its design and parts construction. In bigger races I use the 414M, but most of the time I use the TA04, because some 414M parts are very, very hard to find and are super expensive.

I myself have a TA04 I love it, very smooth drivetrain, parts are very delicate though. Right know I'm waiting for new shock towers, top deck and lower deck,I went with carbon fiber this time except for the lower deck which is the new carbon reinforced tub. (pricey)
The only thing is I wish tamiya would get with the times and do away with all the darn plastic parts, they brake easily, trust me I know, I've also had a TA02 and a TA03F.
I have a friend that has both a TB-EVO limited, and a fully decked out TB01.
He actually likes the 01 better, he says it is faster.

I've got the most hopped TL01 around.... so far at least. I hear there may be a graphite chassis conversion comin' to the States soon, so I'll need that to compliment my complete aluminum suspension, shiny cvd's, TA03 shocks and a host of other parts.
The TL01 is a great touringcar. Trakhak compete's regularly and TL01's consistently kick TC3 and Pro 3 tail at his track.
I'll have to get mine up and running for the racing here in Texas.

Tamiya has been doing this for a long time(plastic parts for their cars). It's OK to not include every hop-up on the stock chassis right away(that's where most RC companies and hobby shops make their money), but sometimes Tamiya frustrates me. The stock TA04-PRO is equipped fully with ball-bearings, but the shock towers and bulkheads are made of plastic. But what disappointed me the most was the thin aluminum motor plate and plastic spur gear adapter. The motor plate failed to dissipate heat properly, and combined with the plastic gear adapter it caused the spur gear to warp. The problem was fixed with the proper option parts, but I wish Tamiya never put me in that position in the first place. I guess it would be OK for Tamiya to do that with their entry-level cars, but the TA04-PRO, as a 'pro' racing chassis, should have at least had some option parts. A fully-optioned TA04-PRO, as of this point, retains only the battery holder, differential gear cover, those soft plastic bulkheads, the axles and the steel front(steering) and rear posts. For a 'pro' car, this is unacceptable. I have been a Tamiya fan for a long time, and I am really hoping for some change here.

karim, I partly agree with your post, everything you said about the 04pro is true, but I disagree with the part about the "stock chassis" . It is not about the "stock kit" including every hop-up with it, I think you would agree to the Associated TC3 racer kit as being a "stock chassis" but, yet it's made of very high quality materials, one of these retails for about $160 bucks, the stock 04 in the other hand retails for about $199 plus or minus a couple bucks (the "S" kit is about $169). So you see my point is, I'm a die hard Tamiya fan, and I want them to go back to being atop the touring car scene, but is tough to support them when you look outhere and see other companies HPI and Associated just to name a couple, offering "entry level kits" that offer supperior material quality, for less money, don't get me wrong Tamiya's workmanship and attention to detail are legendary. But it just seems that now when you walk into a hobby shop looking for a new Tamiya kit, half your money is going to buy the Tamiya name.

I cannot argue with what you said. I am also a Tamiya guy who wants the best for Tamiya. Yes, companies like HPI and Asssociated have been offering racers better value. And yes, at times I wonder whether I spend more to buy Tamiya just because it's Tamiya.
What I meant by "stock chassis" was a bone-stock chassis, the one you get out of the box. So a Factory Team TC3 can also be a stock chassis- as long as it retains the original parts that came with the Factory Team TC3 kit. I did not mean "stock" as "entry-level". Hope I've made myself clear.

Thanks ppl for our replys. But i cant see that eny one own or ride the Limited Edition TRF 414. I think this is a grat car. A freind of mine got the 414M and he cant get it to go as smoth and fast as mine. :))) . The handling and the power on this machine is incredible. All my freinds at the race trak says that im spoild with a such light drive train. They are all envius, cause they want it to.
Does eny one now where i can order Tamiy parts on the nett? Preferly cheap. :)) Cause it's so ******* expensive here in norway.
The Tamiya TRF 414 did cost about 750$ when it came last year. The 414m is about 700$.
So it's very expensive here.

Towerhobbies sels Tamiya parts. The TRF is a really sweet car. Does it come with the centre and front oneways?
If you want setups for the Tamiya TCs try www.mpoweredracing.com
One of the guys at my track runs it, and he runs pretty much only Tamiya TCs. His setups are fantastic.

i dont drive a touring car really, but it is electric and i tamiya, it is a tamiya rover mini cooper m03, it would be interesting to see a race full of those things. i am very very pleased with its performance, i havent tried race yet, but i have crashed it lots, and driven it a few times, durability is great, i love that car
list of hop-ups:
-acto tuned motor
-full ball bearings
-swaybar set (coming in)
-hpi x-patt radials
-mini star white rims
-hpi '63 bus body
-the high performance tamiya msc:p
this car has the power to spin out on any surface

Crazy Canuck: Yes it comes with a Center and Front oneways.
But i have big problem right now, i need to change all my bearings(Is this spelled right?). Cause i have driven it in to much rain. Darn thing that it should rain when we have races. But never the less the rain wont stop us.

Hey maniac did you already try and take the bearings apart and clean them, if you haven't, try that, you might save yourself a few dollars.
Hey Pudder, overhere where I run, there's a mini class, and I've got to say those little things handle pretty impressively and are quite fast. How does the bus body handle though? Isn't it to tall?
I thought it would make the car roll over through fast corners.

well to tell you the truth, i havent ran with the vw bus body yet, the guy who sold me the car couldnt find the posts untill after he sent it, but that is okay becasue it was included with a mini cooper body, it handles very well, but could use the swaybars because i can hear the rpm's upping in turning, i would love to race this car, but the only thing i could race is carpet track in winter against the tc3's and that, i might just go for it, for the fun :)
the guy is sending a few more things out to me anyways so he put the body posts wiht that

pudder I have a M-03 mini cooper too, I don't have any hop ups other than new HPI tires cause I drove my other tires until they were bald. You're right about it spinning out on any surface. Hey you should try rallying it, they are really fun in dirt with the fwd. I don't have any tracks nearby me that run onroad tcs so I just bash it at my lhs's clay oval and if I get a better motor(running the stock silver can) I could keep up with the other stock guys there. Heck my stock mini is faster than my friends stock TL-01. Me and him like to race on our street and boy do we crash sometimes and both cars keep on trucking. We're gonna try to convert them to rally and then water proof them for the winter.

i also have an m03,i have the stainless steel suspension shafts, carbon gear shafts, and the super mini shocks.and the bus body, get the shocks they improve the handling much better.and from what ive seen the bus body does make it roll over, but i havent tried it since getting the new shocks.this little car will run circles around my tl01,also with the bus body,it might rub a little on the tires, this could have to do with my shoddy mounting holes though.

Hey guys...anyone know of where I can get a parts listing for the TRF 414 or the 414M?? I got one of the 04R (very nice car - very fast too) and am thinking about brining the car up to 414 specs :) Yes, I know its gonna be expensive, but I see destinct similiarities between the 04R and the 414M :)
Any help would be appreciated

the reason why you see so many similarities between the 414 and the TA04 is because the 414 prototype was used to develop the 04. I've looked all over for part lists for the 414, even on the Tamiya site, no luck.
Looks like you might have to go straight to the source, Japan.
