Howdy all. First time on the boards. Would like to find out some information about my RC10CE that I have had for a while, got it used for as a gift. It has the Brass? front end, and rear end protective shell, with a fiberglas plate chassis, fiberglas rear suspension tower, Futaba FPS148 Steering Servo, Futaba R102JE receiver. It also came with a Parma Cyclone motor. Looks like regular dogbones. Also looks like AE Gold Shocks. I added a Novak Rooster, upgraded from the MSC. So, can anyone tell me anything about these parts? The car works good, but I'm curious to know how out dated it all is, just for curiosity.

whats up man, i have owned an rc10 almost exactly like yours for a couple years, although mine was even older than yours! great car. i think your CE is basically the second upgrade from the original 6 gear rc10, which was the first associated buggy way back in like '85. the front end that you have is not brass, but gold anodized aluminum (this stuff is way rugged, although kinda heavy). normally your chassis would be of the same material, but the CE has the upgraded fiberglass chassis, which is not as strong and flex resistatnt but it is lighter. i milled out my aluminum chassis and it worked well, but dont do this with the fiberglass, it could crack or splinter and will make the chassis weaker (plus its light enough already). the shock towers are made out of basically the same thing, maybe thinner, theyre strong though so dont worry about graphite replacements. yeah, fiberglass stuff is old! its rugged like the rest of the car, though. watch those shocks, they arent as well anodized as the newer grey team shocks so they wear out fairly quickly. also, the dogbones wear out the outdrives quickly if you use a fast motor, so keep the slipper somewhat looser if you do use a motor like that. you can find cvd driveshafts for your car though, they work nicely. basically ive found that the car, despite being old school, has alot of modern features, jsut not the newer, better materials. if you race it ive found that all you really need is a good motor and tires to keep up. anyway, as for your electronics, your servo is just fine for a buggy, it has about 42 oz. inches of torque which is fine for just about any rc car except stadium and monster trucks. your reciever is definitely older but again will be fine. as for the motor, i can tell you the motor is old...but hey if it works then use it! well thats pretty much all i can help you out with. to get to the point, your car is ancient, everything nowadays is computer designed and made of plastic composite and graphite, not aluminum, fiberglass, and nylon. but i can tell you that i loved my old 10 and it was a beast, it was very rugged. anyway hope that helps you with your car, have fun :D
