I'm looking for several sets of Deans connectors....prob around 15-16 sets or so.....any ideas, or possible alternatives to a deans connector? The bateries I have ordered have the Tamiya connectors, so I would like to swap them out ASAP.

I have seen some generic stuff as well that looks good, this would prob work as well....

You need sets, or just the females for the batts? TH has 4 packs of females for 5.69.

I use Power Poles myself. For me, they're easier to work with. Plus, they're gender neutral, so you just buy a bag and go to town. There's a crimp tool available as well if you don't feel like soldering.

I need more female conectors (aprox 15 battery packs) than Male (3 chargers, 3 vehicles, possible 3 dischargers)

I'm with Jeckler- powerpoles seem to be a little more forgiving in all cases of a bad or weak soldering job. TH is probably your best bet for them. a ham radio supply might have them too

The last I knew SPC (http://www.spcracing.com) was carrying Deans connectors at good prices. I recently bought several from them for my 18T.

I use nothing but Race Preps, but if you're already using Deans you probably want to stick with them. The reistance in race preps is only barely more than Deans. Decimal place or two I think. :D

I've always used PowerPole connectors, mainly because they're easier to get hold of here.

I had some Deans plugs on a motor I bought second hand, but trying to solder 12 gauge wire to it was not so cool, so I tossed them.

I've also heard that after a bit of use, heating and cooling, the connectors expand and contract so much that eventually they skew and don't make very good connections. I haven't confirmed this, but their structure does lead me to believe that it's true.

PowerPoles on the other hand are much better over all because you just slide the wire into the metal bit, and clip that into the plastic plug. They're not reusable like Deans Plugs, and they definitely don't take 12 gauge wire, but otherwise, they're good. :)

you can reuse them, atleast i have. youre right about 12 guage wire tho. not many connectors seem to like 12 guage lol

I use nothing but Trinity R-minus connectors the femal ends never wear and the male end you only need to change out every 6 months or so.

so do you have to shrink wrap them all to protect them from touching and shorting your ESC and batteries?

I used Deans for awhile before needing many different connections for the different vehicles and motors could never get the one connector end I needed the most. So like others mentioned I started using the Sermos (powerpoles) and all I did was order them in bulk 25, 50, or 100 pairs. The only problem you may enounter with them some of the plastic housing may not have the metal contacts or enough wire contact for the plug housing. And be careful of getting motor cleaner on plastic housing which can become brittle and far apart. For serious racing I hardwire now and don't use connectors when AC power is available.

This (http://ashtekelectronics.com/store/power-connectors-c-26_28.html) is where I get my "Deans" type plugs from. The price is better then the LHS and the nice thing is you can get different colours. From all the searching I've done W.S. Dean seems to have the North American rights to these connectors and haven't been able to locate them anywhere else. As for the "powerpole" type they are actually called Anderson connectors and can be found at any good electronics stores in a variety of colours as well.

Sorry to steal the thread, but how are those connectors in comparison to deans RH Customs? More importantly, could they be fit onto motor leads and wires (the female sides)?

The Trinity R-minus Looke pretty good for the price. Do you just heat-shrink up to the connector? And are you using both Male connectors on the ESC?

I am guessing black heat shrink for negative, and maybe a red Heatshrink for positive?

those Tinrity R-minus or Corally tubes are not to be used for stick packs. the are used on side-by-side or saddle packs. the female end is directly soldered onto the ends of the battery

I decided to order the Trinity connectors.....I have 12 side by side packs, and 3 stick packs......but the stick packs are just 1500mah nicads, so will not bother with these.....

I will post a pic of how my packs are set up, and how they look in my MF1.

just be carfull to run your wires so its not possible to cross wire them.

people make one side shorter than the other so you cant cross wire.

I bought a set of 20 pack deans of ebay for like $15....

It included 10 male plugs and 10 female plugs.

They have worked great for me. they have barely got hot, while on the other hand I melted my tamiya plugs.

Thanks....any suggestions for helping the kids not to reverse connect? I was thinking a red sticker at the front of the battery holddown......

What you could do is get a maroon sharpie and a black one. Maroon for positive, shows up as red. And black for the negative.

If you have kids that operate the car your thinking of fitting these plugs to, do yourself a favor and stick with deans, they're a lot safer.
