I am looking for a steerable prop, about 2 to 3 inches in diameter to use on a large ship; 51" long by 15" at the beam. The system I've seen uses a bevel gear off the motor shaft to the shaft of the prop system. This system eliminates the need for a rudder. This is a project that several high school students are working on as an engineering problem.
Thanks
Bob

Hobby Lobby has a steerable prop (http://www.hobby-lobby.com/hydrodrives.htm), part # GR1738. It's designed for a go-fast deep vee type hull. The prop turns left & right with the rudder unit. Harbor Models has some Kort nozzle (http://www.harbormodels.com/Harbormain/Templates/m14-propulsion.htm) units.
