motor timing question

If a fixed timing mod motor does not speciify its timing, do I assume it is set at 0 degrees?

Look at the end of the endbell. By the dimples in the can, you should be able to tell where the mags are. Some cans have cuts or openings that make it easier. Line it up so the mags are staight up and down. The timing is the relation of the brushes to the mags. So, if the mags are up and down, at 0 degrees the brush hoods should be flat across. If they are tilted a little, the ammount they are tilted will be your timing. Hope this helps.
