Im new to R/C Cars. I have a honda civic Xmod, and a Mini-T, but theres a few things i dislike about them, we have a dog and the Xmod always manages to get filled with hair, and i can never take it outside due to low ground clearance, my Mini-T...well i've had it for a few months now, paid 50$ for it from my aunt who was selling on E-bay and could'nt find a buyer, it seems like theres something wrong with it, it almost seems as if the wheels are'nt getting the power they should be, like some gears or missing, i know nothing about mini-t's so i dont know anything to try and fix it, Now Im looking for a good/inexpensive drifting car that either comes ready to drift or can be made to drift easy(also does'nt catch dog hair)Our basement would be a great place for the car to drift, nice open place and it has a concrete floor...or would it be better to spend money on my Mini-T and fix it up and everything, or are mini-t's not able to drift? well thats all for now, also im looking at drifting cars on ebay...do 4wd cars drift just as good or better than 2wd cars?

First sell me the mini-t cheap. :D what i am about to suggest would make great drift cars rather inexpensively.. altho I would recommend not running it in the hair as well. And if you have an open basement, you can easily set up a track that you and your friend could race on.(drift style or not). It just so happens I was just at this website yesterday, and saw this video. it automatically loads in the upper right hand when you go there. http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/ It's for the AWD Kyosho Mini-Z. They show them racing on a small track regular and drfit style. I am sure the Mini-Z ready set is only about $180 at the most. Some other similar options might be an HPI micro, or a M-18, and possibly the Duratrax micro street force.

basically any touring car will work. some people prefer shaft driven some dont. I use a associated TC4, but you could find a cheap TC3 on ebay. Then put a 27 turn motor in it and some pvc pipe tires and go drift

Tamiya TT-01 would be great for you. Only about $110 for the kit and about $47ish dollars for a controller and servo. The car is easy to build and you will learn how to fix it and how it works. Get a TT-01 that includes the esc.

I cant seem to find a Store Locater on tower hobbies, and i have no clue where one could be around here, also, would it be better for me to just wait and find a good deal on ebay that has one ready to drift, or would it be cheaper and better for me to find a hobby shop, buy it from there and buy everything for it, because when im looking on ebay, i would'nt know if what he is listing will actually make the car run or not.

a TT-01 is an excellent choice for a drift car. its a nice, stable quality car, and it is very inexpensive. the kit (04 impreza wrc) costs just 80 dollars and comes with a motor and esc, you'll only need a battery and radio gear to get going (hopefully, the radio you buy comes with servos)

for tires, you can buy a 12 foot length of 2 inch abs pipe for about 7-8 dollars, and use the rims that came with the kit.

tower hobbies is only in illinois and nevada. if you're looking for a LHS, use the yellow pages in your phone book.

if you want to save money, then by all means go to ebay. i got over 400 dollars worth of touring car for only $126. (factory team TC3 + IRS carbon chassis conversion...you do the math.

Id go with the TT01. So much people drift those, it should be real easy finding a set-up that works for you. You can get a ready to run TT01 for around $150 on www.towerhobbies.com

I agree with the TT-01 suggestions. It's the best bang for the buck drifter.

Ok, The TT-01 it is, now when im looking on ebay, what things should i be looking for a person to include, or not include

Do TT-01's have another name for them?

Also when it sais on ebay the word "Kit" as it sais on many of them i see, is that the full thing? an example is :Tamiya Mercedes Benz C-Class DTM '04 TT-01 Kit

Last thing, Do they use special tires to drift these cars?

Legend_Car

a kit isnt assembled, and usually has no electronics. Drifters use PVC tires ABS tires or yokomo drift tires as far as i kno. I have also heard of people wrapping tires in electrical tape

Qtip8990
01-02-2006, 01:15 AM
Do they come ready to run or do i have to buy anything for them? Because the TT-01 the shows the car with the body on, the car with the body off, then the frame and theres nothing on it, but the little thing of parts they show does'nt have much to it.

for the ones off ebay, you will need electronics same with tower hobbies. the ones one ebay are already built

You gotta build the kit, driving it is only half the fun. When i got my TL-01 awhile ago, I had no idea what to do(well, I had some r/c experience). I looked over the manual and just started building. Once you start, you will be done in no time.

Granted I haven't read this whole thread, but have you considered 18th scale? I love drifting my Xray M18 in the garage, and its a super cheap car to maintain.

Course if you want 10th scale, disregard my post entirely.
