hey guys, name is Sam, used to have a Nitro RS4-3 RTR, hopped it up with a few hpi goodies and raced it at a few events, got out of the R/C scene and sold the car. I want to get back in, but this time with an electric car. At first I was just going to buy a ToysRus-type Nikko car for kicks and mess around, but found that hopping it up would be somewhat of a trouble. Anywho, i'm just asking for a few suggestions on what car would be right for a guy who wants to bash most of the time, drift it a little bit (i'm thinkin I can just buy the HPI or Yoko Tires) and maybe race once in a while at the track. Hopping it up is a factor too. Something like a TC4 or a PRO4 from hpi is out of the question to me, those seem like real race cars. I was thinkin something from Tamiya? I hear there cars are the best bashers and great durability as well as hop-ups.

Thanks

Most kits are considered race versions, a bit too expensive (for me) to run in the backyard or street. There are too many manufacturers of Touring cars to name each and every one without omitting one. Like desserts, or ice cream flavors everyone has their choice. I'd used past experience with a manufacturer, cost of initial kit, parts availabilty and what upgrades are going to be needed as criteria for selecting your next vehicle or read as many reviews as possible on the type you are interested in. With some kits little or nothing is needed except maybe different springs or shock oil for tuning.

Tamiya vehicles used to be considered bashing only, with some needing big upgrades to be competitive. That is not completely true today, their TA0 line have been very competitive but they still make bashing only vehicles, reintroducing some of their old favorites like the Grasshopper, Hornet and I hear Frog.

A Tamiya TA05, or a TB-02 would probably be good choices. Both are fully adjustable, where as the TT-01 isn't. They also have loads of aftermarket parts and hop-ups available.

I also think that a Tamiya TA05 or TB-02 would be great. Another option would be a Team Losi XXX-S. I understand that you think that the TC4 is too much of a race car, but my brother has one, and all my family does with our cars is bash. The tough shaft is amazing, and upgrades are plentiful. Try checking Horizon Hobby (http://www.horizonhobby.com/). They and Tower Hobbies (http://towerhobbies.com/) are great websites for finding and buying cars. If you want to drift, a Yokomo Drift kit would be ideal. My brother and I drift with our cars, which are the TC4 and XXX-S. The XXX-S is a great car, I love mine! Good Luck finding a new car! :D
