I recently purchased an RC18T RTR to go along with my TL01, so I could have some off-road fun. I love it to death and these little things really amaze me. I was wondering which brushless system I should go for. I know the 8000kv is way too much for stock parts to handle. So my question is whats the most powerful Mamba setup that my diff's and dogbones can take. I saw a 4200kv setup for only $70, and was tempted to buy, but I figured I would ask some pro's what the best setup would be for a stock 18T drivetrain.
I'm not racing just yet, mostly just bashing up and down my street and in my back yard with the dog. Reliability is key here.

Well the 6800kv will make it scream and everything should hold up.. the 8000kv is just too much which some say the 6800 is too.. I run the 6800 in my Mini t and the thing is just plain stupid fast.. 5400kv would also do nice but then again so will 4200...

I'll probably pick up the 6800kv then. I've been reading on this all night and it seems like the best overall option. If it has too much power I can just tune it down some. I just wasn't sure about my drivetrain being able to handle it.

Just ordered the 6800kv Mamba setup for $108 shipped. I am officially grounding myself from charging anything. Between the TL01, the RC18T, batteries, chargers ect ect.. I've gone way beyond my means.
I painted and stickered my RX-7 body, I'll post picks of it in a little while. I got the paint from Land Sea and Air over on parker street. That guy is realy nice and friendly.

My 6800 in my 18t FT has held up just fine, but mine also came stock with the outdrive sleeves and diff shims. If yours doesn't, those would be the first things. With the 6800 it's fun, but with the 8000 it's crazy fast.

Ok this is what you do to runa 8000 motor in your micro. I have had the rc18t ft kit and I bought the 8000 motor combo. I installed the cvd's all the way around dropped in the motor set the speed control and was off to the races. neer had one problem with the drive train. You answered your own questions right here

With it set on max power, full power starts, and 25% reverse I get ginormous power and still pretty good run times off of AE 1100mah sport packs. Can't wait to try out a GP pack or 2.

Heres some pics of my rides. I might sell the TL01, a new 3600mah Venom just melted on me for no reason (defective), so if I can't get a replacement I'm selling it RTR with extras for $100. It has a 19T XS Power motor in it. I'm guessing it does around 22-25mph.
