Yep, I just picked up a Cobra 2000 Pro Comm for $109 at Tower. Unless you mean stock motors that are not rebuildable, then I dunno :)

Yes i was talking about rebuildable motors, like a P2K.

Okay, then that's a pretty decent lathe for cheap. The only thing I don't like is there is no on/off switch. Once you hook up the battery, it's off! :)
Then, Cobra 2000 is all you needed.
You can solder one toggle switch close to the slave motor.

nitrodriver: When it comes to lathes, a rebuildable stocker is the same as a modified motor. So you'll want to pick up a modified lathe. A stock lathe cuts the comm while it's still in the can. So as long as you can remove the armature, use a modified lathe.

Get the cobra pro comm 2000. 40-50 doll hairs cheaper than the trinity in it works great. I wish I bought one long ago. ;)

cck: What kind of toggle? Just an ordinary one from an auto parts store? I would like to add that on/off switch, so please elaborate if you would be so kind.

My top choice of comm lathes is a Hudy Tech with v-block guides, but it's way out of the price range you mentioned...

I just picked up a used Cobra 2000 Pro Comm from a friend. The same lathe has travled around the pits a couple times with no one liking it much. No diamond bit, yadda yadda. Anyway, I got some new carbide bits from a local tool supplier, $3.14 a piece. Lets see, a diamond bit is around $85 bucks, hummmmm, I take the carbide bits and toss them when they get bad.... I found that after about ten armatures I need to swap. Anyway, as far as the on/off switch is concerned, if you are serious enough to cut your own comm then it is safe to assume you can solder. I went to Ace hardware and bought a switch I liked...less than $4. It even had instructions on the back on how to wire it up. Pretty darn easy and well worth the money. Good luck!
My wife wears the diamonds in my house! not my lathe bit!!!!
Happy Maxxin'!

a good tool shop or machine shop should be able to sharpen those carbide bits for you for next to nothing...
Yes, just the ordinary one from the auto part store or from Radio Shack. I personally have the one from my broken hair dryer, I took it out and soldered it on my lathe. You can get one for very low price from Radio Shack, prices range from less than a dollar to 4,5 dollars.
dcommerce, I just found one from Radio Shack, which looks very similar to the one I have. Model # R13-602A. It only costs 59 cents.
