Today at the track smoke and a burning smell was coming from my throttle servo. I don't understand what could cause this? Any info that'll shed some light on the situation would really help. Thanks in advance!
Here are the spec:
Throttle: Futaba 3010 90oz/in @ 6.0v
Tx: JR Racing XS3
Rx: RS300

OMG, I just had an awesome idea...what you should do is turn it on and see if it works. That way you'll know if it's broken or not :p

OMG! NO! Engine was off when it happened. I plugged my steering servo in channel two and it works fine, but when i plug the throttle servo back into ch.2 it doesn't do anything. Like I said, I saw smoke, and a plastic burning smell!!!!!
No it was not smoke or the burning smell coming from the exhaust pipe. I just wanna know what could cause this?
I already know its broken!!! I just don't want this to happen again thats why
Thanks for thinking of me as an idiot

I was just pullin your leg so you would give us more info, and looky...it worked :D
It's sounding like a fried servo. If the other servo's work fine in Ch. 2 then it couldn't really be anything else. How old is the servo? If it's new send that puppy back to Futaba and they should give you a new one.
Couldn't exactly tell you why because it could be many things. Sometimes the gears get jammed causing the motor to fry, sometimes they get wet and short out, and it could be a faulty servo.

The servo's not that old (I don't this it is), it's about 5 months old.
How often this happend to you and others?
Is there anyway you can prevent this from happening?

TEC part of it was my fault to for the misleading title. Sorry

I've never had a servo actually start smoking and fry like that, but they've died on me. Some last years, some last days, all depends. The servo in my 4-tec stripped some gears after a few weeks of use. If you're sure that nothing's binding in the throttle linkage then there's nothing you can do to prevent it. Some times servos just decide to die.
Hey, no problemo about the title thing, sorry if I come off as a sarcastic ass hole...I tend to do that a lot :D

I dont see why Futaba wouldn't replace it if you weren't doing anything wrong.
If you were out bashing in the snow and everything dont even bother because thats definitely what caused it. Alot of guys come into the shop during the winter with snow caked cars and ask why they aren't working anymore....
