I figured since Part 2 (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=29692&highlight=Boston) crusted off. A refresher for the new year of '06 should be here to represent what little we have. :)
I'm in Dorchester for those of you who don't know. I heard Abington isn't altogether right now. I went to the website and joined the forum. But, Looks like the forum is closed to posting. Not sure what's going on. I hope they haven't lost their passion for the hobby. :(
Down south to Tauton, that's a hike from Dot.
Where is everyone now?

There is nothing in Taunton ( Big Boys Toys) as he closed. However I heard he was going to open up again under a different name this time in New Bedford. He buys a $100,000 boat, Durango, jet ski's and then closes down due to no business. Hmmm......................
Abington, though they made efforts to start racing, it never happened.
The closest track that has racing is in Fitchburg ( www.rcexcitement.com ) Nice tracks, decent people, and a decent hobby shop.
www.rcmadness.com is the next track that has racing. They have some really fast drivers, tracks are changing on a daily basis, and though the hobby shop is a complete pig sty, they stock nearly every imaginable part.
And if you don't feel like driving 200 miles, go to Wakefield and there is a BMX track there.
There is also a track in York, ME. Carpet racing and I think they have offroad in the summer.

What about RTE 106 in New Hampshire? Are they still into the hobby or racing? Or have they faded off as well?
Where is everyone?
EDIT: I see they are still in Business (http://www.ashfordhobby.com/news040.htm).

Hey guys,
I'm over in Western Mass, haven't been racing in a good year or so, but Megadrome is still racing off-road indoor in North Adams, it's a 50min haul from me, but I'd rather go there then to Madness, unless I'm going carpet or for fun. It's tough at Madness if you're not a regular, not that it's an unwelcome thing, just the guys that live down there are darn right have the setup, track, etc down pat, so you have to be good. Not a bad thing though, but can be frustrating.

Route 106 in Pembroke mostly offroad and 1/4 scale, not much 1/10th oval the past few years. Radial Ricks haven't heard much as far as racing, most oval guys go to K & N Speedway, Madness, north to Laconia Lake Regions RC, York Maine, Maximus RC (run TC, 1/12 onroad on Fridays, Oval Sunday), new track in Falmouth, Me and RC Speedway in Fairfield, Me. Raced offroad at Lunneburg until it closed and occassional when I had weekends off at 106 Racepark where I'd race offroad Saturday, oval mod on Sunday.
Maximus is having the Region 1 oval race this weekend 1/6-8 with onroad coming up in right after.

I'm in Reading, MA and also Durham, NH during the school year (at UNH). A girl I know says she saw a track near Durham, like in Lee or something. She's not into R/C so it could be anything, but I remain hopeful that it's an R/C track I could go to as a spectator or something. I don't race, just have a Stampede.

R/C Speedway is still open I checked today and there was a sign saying we are STILL open for business. Just an FYI.

The track in Lee, NH run 1/18th scale indoors and was running 1/12 and 1/10 outdoors (Bill Crotty Jr is the owner) he has run at the track in Worcester (1/12th onroad) and unless she mistook it for the dirt track in Newmarket, NH but track is located on guys property (he prefers people call ahead before coming). There is a new track in Falmouth, Me flat track, RC Speedway in Fairfield, Me was up in the air - seems someone purchased the building and they had to move - now they have been allowed to stay but from what I heard they lost some space in the area of pits. Dave is closed on Monday plus not one of those who opens according to his posted hours, sometimes he may have stepped out. The track in York - Maximus has a website (www.teammaximus.com) Friday nights is onroad racing while Sunday is oval racing - Heath runs a very good program. be it weekly racing or hosting the Region one racing -it's a nice, fast smooth track. If you are headed North for a drive stop by and check it out.
With work schedule I don't get to travel as much as I used to or do as many types of racing. Use to go to Big Boys Toys, Radical Ricks, K&N Speedway or over to Madness for dirt racing.

Here is a private message I received from Steve Obrian:
guess you dont know what happened but it was not because of lack of buisness or anything to do with my personel life .where do you get off bad mouthing me online when i have helped the hobby more than anyone in our area spent 200,000.00 holding rc racing for 7 years with very little back from the average racer.had some great costomers for them i feel bad that i had to close the tracks, but im sure your not one of those great customers probably someone who showed up once and a blue moon paid there 10.00 and never supported the shop but i may be wrong.you have no reason to blast me for anything show me someone who has done more for the hobby in our area and next time there is a track around maybe you will support it.get mad at online shopping not at me i spent over 20 hours a week for seven years toward the hobby and this is the thanks i get!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who bad mouthed you? All I said was you bought a boat, truck, and then closed your hobby shop doors because racing doesn't make money. I may have implied some strange behavior, but never bad mouthed you.
And obviously your memory has gone awry because I DID support your tracks in Fall River and Taunton. I may not have purchase kits from you, but I did purchase alot of little items. I did purchase items from you because my receipts were used towards for free practice. And I can't count how many Saturdays I spent at the Fall River track. I raced indoor dirt during the winter and outside during the summer. I paid my race fees, sometimes for two people. I purchased items from you when it was competitively priced and told many other people on here about your racing facilities. I also put many hours into rebuilding the tracks, alongside other racers and your employees.
Were we ever repaid for helping you with your business? I think you handed out free sodas when there were only 4 people rebuilding your Fall River track one night. I can't count how many times people would come in needing help with their cars and because your store employee was busy, I would assist the customer. And I'm not the only one that would help, there was Manny, Frank, and a few other people that were not employeed by you but should have been.
As for online shopping, it has hurt EVERY retail outlet, not just r/c. But it hurts even more when your items are ridiculously overpriced. $500 for a T-Maxx? That's your fault, not mine.
As for the email you sent to me through Ebay, thanks.
As for seeing me at a track in the future, that's highly unlikely as I've sold off all of my r/c equipment.

The one I heard of is in Falmouth, Me. Work schedule has put a limit on amount of racing or how far I can travel recently. Racing has been limited to racing on Sunday only, used to get up to Dave's track in Fairfield or travel to K&N when they raced Sunday's. Work third shift, so I would drive down and a friend would ride along and drive back. Even got to Tauton, and Swansea several times that's how I got to enjoy racing flat tracks.

Hey,
Sorry dude, I run some of my vehicles that aren't used any longer for racing but usually in a place away from traffic and kids. With the regular race cars I have, don't always have the time or money to buy one just to bash. If you've got a hobby shop near you, meet some of them there is possible and start a little group get together. It might even draw business in for the owner when other people are exposed to RC.

Hey, im in quincy and i just got a new ravager last friday and i havent gotten the dam thing to stay running for more than 3 seconds at a time. can anyone help me out, anyone in the area? it sounds to be revving wicked high when it does start for those few seconds i spent 2 hrs today trying to get it started and i got nothin
Wallboy,
I had that same problem with my Storm(but it stayed running), I would start it and it would rev so damn high that I had to grab the controller and pull back on the throttle for it to idle down.
What I did was take off the link and plastic peice that slides on the servo, then turn on the car and radio and have it set itself, then slide on the plastic peice and hook it back up, that will center up your servo. Then you should figure out if you are running too rich or too lean. You could be either flooding it or starving it, clockwise is leaning it out(not enough fuel) or counterclockwise is rich(too much fuel). Its better to have a little more fuel than too little, even though you will get the most power out of it running a lean. Hope this helps, good luck.
Oh, I think I will stick with my LHS. RCE lost my business.

why is it that the entire eastern MA area is completely void of any RC tracks nowadays? I've been into RC for quite a number of years (13 years) and the only places i can drive are bash spots in Marshfield, Plymouth, and a few other sand pits. there are BMX and Motocross tracks in middleburough... not sure if the owner would allow RC to drive on them though.
anyway I've always been into the electric side of RC. old Tamiya trucks mostly, then experimented with a '95 OFNA HODR .21 buggy... seems the stock Force engine didn't last too long, or maybe i didn't break it in right. my current collection includes 2 onroad Yokomo MR4 SD's (setups are very diferent) one Team Losi sedan (for my fiance) and I just aquired a Team Losi XXX B4+ buggy (need to finish building it)
please keep me informed of what's going on in this area as I want other people who are interested in RC to talk to and share tuning tips... maybe even revive my Ofna nitro before i throw a Li-Po powered brushless setup in it like the new E-Storm.

Whats up Brian, welcome to the forums. It is odd how everytning RC related is way out in the booniez, at least for tracks. I just stopped by Xtreme Hobby Works in Natick today. Nice shop very clean and Harold the owner is a great guy. Its located on RT 9 west bound lane in Natick right before Hess gas station after the lights where the Scrubb A Dubb is. He is in the works on a track, actually 4 tracks and an Airplane run-way.

It was awesome. I love this s**t, its just a blast.
Come on guys/girls, lets get something going. Am I the only one intersted in a bash session. I'm going to be getting a CEN Nemesis 7.7 and hopefully a Jato 3.3 to go along with my others, I dont want to bash alone (but probably will, there is a big Industrial Park with in walking distance), plus I would like to go to different spots.

So, if you're interested feel free to drop me a line, I left my e-mail in post #30 in this thread.
I promise I wont ask anymore.

xtreme is a nice place, it reminds me alot of a paintball shop for somereason... ,aybe its cause there always seems to be people hanging out in there. ive had mondays and wednesdays off from work for the past 3 weeks so if that keeps up im free on those days. yesterday i completly disassembled my ravager for the first time now its clean as a baby. i was thinking of maybe picking up a force 32 from xtreme in the coming weeks. break it in and shelf it for the winter so i wont have to attempt a breakin in the cold weather think thered be a problem w/ breaking it in and letting it sit for awhile?
oh and as for the lights, they looked sweet/worked great for the 3 mins they worked before i flipped the ravager and destroyed them( note to self..do not mount anything to the front shock tower) Im definatly gonna invest in another set of lights, maybe try and rig up somthing with bulbs instead of LEDs, they just dont reach out enough in real darkness, sure seeing 2-3 ft in front of the car is better than nothing but at like 30MPH 3 ft is like .2 seconds

Hey guys!
Another local here, but a little further north. Hobby Town USA just opened a store on 522 Amherst St (Rte. 101A) in Nashua, NH. Last time I was there, the clerk gave me a phone number of a guy in the area who built a dirt track and wants people to race with. Apparently, he invites people over on Tuesdays, just call first. If I get over there soon, I'll give you guys a run-down.
Anyway, I would love to hang out/bash with others who are addicted. I definitely won't be going Southshore, but could be convinced to drive the 25+ miles to Waltham, if the time was right. I run a RC10 B4 "Race Spec" with a Novak 5.5 system. I've got Road Hawgz II on right now 'cause I have no where to run on dirt, so big parking lots with speed bumps sound good.

You guys are all fogetting that there is a track about 45 - 60 minutes west of Boston called ETMR or East Templeton Model Raceway they are NITRO HEAVEN !! The track is built for 1/8th scale buggies and is HUGE !! If anyone has been to RCE in Fitchburg and saw there outdoor track ,it is about 2/3rd's the size of ETMR ! and ETMR has a real European style pit lane ! And the surface the track is made out of is AWSOME ! They have a web sight too ! www.glowplug.com There only problem is no hobby shop ,but the guys there are very friendly and will help anyone out if they can ! And the y ussually race Saturday afternoon around 6 pm . This Sunday they are having a Trophy race called the Iron Man , I read in the flyer it was a 100 lap race ! How cool is that ! looking at the race results from last Saturday it looks like the lap times are around 45 seconds ? to do 100 laps will take over an hour ? Man that is some serious wheel time for sure ! I know I'm going ! Hope to see a few others from the East Coast there as well ?
I never even heard of that track. It looks killer though. Its too bad they dont have a shop though. That Iron Man race is a great idea. Its just sooo far away. I dont mind driving 10-20 minutes but when you get to 45 minutes to an hour (with no shop around) eehh I would rather bash in the nieghborhood. I wish they had tracks closer to home, or at least the Eastern part of MA. I know the guys over at NERC are in the works. We need more tracks people, lol.

Well unfortunate for you ,land out in central Mass is not at quite the same premium as it is on the coast . So unless your seriously independantly wealthy I don't think anyone could afford to put a track in or pay to race on it ! It is not a very hard drive From Boston to Western Mass either ,I've done it and I know there is quite a few guys that do it as well . ETMR and RCE both have a ton of people from there racing at there venues .

Hey Tig and Cavv,
I'm getting together with two other friends to bash in Burlington tomorrow (Sun.). Take the Middlesex Turnpike exit off 128 and head south. Turn right at the Burger King. There's a gravel pit back there to off-road in. Don't know the time yet, but I'll find out later this PM.

Hey guys, glad to see this thread is alive and well. I'm in Reading, not far from this gravel pit thing in Burlington. I can't promise anything, but maybe I could come down sometime with my brushless Stampede.
Hey, what location is that mapquest map on the previous page? 1 Tylers Ln Wakefield. Is that where the Northeast R/C guys bash at 9:30am on Sundays?
EDIT: How old are you guys? I'm 19...don't want to feel left out...though I'm not too worried, you all seem nice. :D

ok well.the deal with the track in abington is the owner died.some stuff was going on with it and the son was told to close the abington store, the ebay store and the website.they were all supposed to be reopened but i know for a fact the abington store/track will not be reopened as me and a buddy now have the store and the track for a storage yard for the towing company.but i have been told about a spot in abington where i can possibly set up an offroad track and possibly an onroad track.i dont know any details yet or if im gonna do it.i gotta talk with another friend and see what he thinks.and then speak with the land owner.its a strong possibility that i will do it but dont get your hopes up just yet.i gotta see how much it will cost me to do it.wont have parts so if this does happen make sure you have plenty of spare parts to bring with you.hopefully if this does happen i can make enough money to open a hobby shop somewhere with a track.

i need a few ideas for when i go talk to the landowner.i need to know what size the track would have to be.im thing as wide but half as long as the track in abington was.what type of dirt?i dont want something expensive but i would like something that isnt dusty like the abington track was.dont know if id have a way to wet it so something that isnt too dusty when its 90 degrees outside.
I dont know how big the track was in Abington.
Get some surveyors (spell ckeck) paint and mark out a location. Figure it out to be in the shape of a rectangle, say 25' wide and 50' long. Then figure the track out inside the paint.
As for dirt. Try to do it on a budget to get started, who cares about dust. Even if it means you just roto-til everything down. Get it up and running so people will get in there. Worst comes to worst, you'll have a 50 gallon drum of water and some watering or spray cans. I guess my point is, work with what you have there, ITS FREE, dont forget all the help you will have ;)

well its definately not free.i gotta pay for the use of the land, dirt and most likely water if they let me use a hose.
if this happens i dont want it to be like the abington track was.the dust was constantly killing engines.i want people to come and have fun not ruin thier cars unless of course thats what they wanna do.

Hi all, Boston area here (Dorchester). I haven't done RC in quite some time (I had an RC10 back around '90) and got my hands on a tmaxx .15 that had belonged to a friend who was a hack (body panted on outside with lexan film still on it....wrong screws in places, broken screws, one tire glued on backwards, etc) but had spent some money in upgrades (exhaust, machined a-arms, front bulkhead, skid plates). It's was not in running condition when I got it, and I haven't even tried to start it yet, I've just been trying to fix what I can, painted the body, got a roll cage, new bumpers, servo guard and a new hex screw set. My main issues are that I can't identify one screw from another from the schematics, and since this guy was a hack I don't even know which are right and which are wrong, so a complete rebuild is out of the question. From what I was told it hit a 1:1 tire and it stopped going into gear. I noticed that the linkage from the throttle servo and the tranny servo was loose to me (who know's since I've never run a nitro car) so I tightned them up. This week I'll get some fuel and a glow plug, anything else can you think of just to try and fire up the motor.

07-29-2006, 11:51 PM
Welcome Hoot. Maybe take a trip over to the Monster Truck forum for some advice on that T-Maxx...or someone will chime in here. I'm no nitro guy...but I would recommend more than one glow plug to get that engine going. You may not need extras tomorrow, but eventually you will because glow plugs can wear out.

hey guys, derek from northeast rc here. just joined your forum and i'd urge anyone looking for a new bash spot or 2 or if y'all are just looking to mix it up with a different crew to check out northeast rc (http://www.northeastrc.com) and our forum (http://northeastrc.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi). we post our sunday bash time and location in the weekly bash forum.
for those of you who have been to our site you'll want to check back in with us as we are publishing a new 6+ minute web video this afternoon and we will be compressing our 5 minute video that was featured on beaverstick's (http://www.beaverstick.net) dvd, chaos and posting it this weekend.
our track project on revere beach has been sidelined by lack of able hands and equipment but hook up with us and we'll find a place to bash. nerc is based out of somerville and the bulk of our driving is done north of the city but if you've got a regular bash spot post it up on our forum and guys will show up, probrably with ramps and video cameras. i'd like to check out this sand/gravel pit in burlington if anyone has some info on what that's all about and how to get there.
hope to see some of you guys out there with us in the future - zderekv
hello fellas, I'm back from vaca :)
HOOT,
Welcome to RCZ. I would recommend replacing all the screws with a SS set. Deffinately buy a few plugs to. Parts are very easy and not that expensive to come by on Ebay, you might even get lucky and find a roller for short money. Dont be shy to ask for help if you get stuck.
Good Luck
zderekv,
the sand and gravel pit is behind Freind Lumber. If you get off at the Burlington Mall exit you will take a left (both N and S bound exits use same directions). There will be a BK on your right and a gas station across from BK. Take that right between BK and gas station. You will pass Friend Lumber on your left. The sand and gravel pit is not too far up the road on the left side.
I am hoping to make it there this weekend. Maybe we can get a session going.

Anyway, bashing is pending on delivery of aluminum rear A arms from Corbin. I snapped a stock one last weekend. Go mail go!

I am hoping for this weekend to. I can call them to make sure, heck maybe I will swing by. I go by on my way home from work. I am sure they would'nt mind, as long as nothing gets damaged, I dont think its anything to worry about (hopefully, lol)
I am with you, my session is pending on parts for my Storm. I was expecting them by the end of the week but, now I was told early next week. If I can just find a few hours (in one day) to break-in my Nemesis, then I would be set. I may be aquiering a Revo, more news on this at 10.

Hey There Y'all,
I bought an RC10GT last year and have had fun. So much, in fact, that my father and two brothers bought the same, and now we have four!
We've been playing on soccer fields and the like, but we're looking for more gravel-pit-like places. I saw the posts about Burlington, which is where I worked until a year ago. I'll have to check that out, but any other ideas north of Lowell would be cool!

4 RC10GTs, damn my friend, you have your own bash session. NICE. I am not familiar with Lowell, I ussually tool around at the pit in Burlington that has been spoken about above, mostly down the street from my house in Waltham. Its a BIG Industrial Park, its mostly street but, there are some spots where theres a little dirt and a lot of grass. I am more into the street for some odd reason.
We should try get a Boston Area Bash Session going, have a little GTG for the end of Summer.

Anybody know if the spur gear when spun should spin the axles in a t-maxx? I haven't even tried to start my t-maxx yet but I have stripped it and re-built it, but when I took out the tranny I noticed the spinning the spur didn't spin the axles, bad tranny? I also noticed the thing bottoms out very easily with the heavy duty springs, any suggestion on springs? I really want a stadium truck or a truggy, but since I'm brook and the t-maxx was free I'll have to wait. I guess all I really need now is for it to start and run, and a high torque steering servo, which you would get the Hitec HS-645MG or the Futaba S3305? And what is the best bang for the buck saver in your opinion Sorry for all of the ?'s but I've been out of the hobby for 15 years and this is my first nitro as well.
zderekv
08-05-2006, 11:36 AM
hoot - i'm not a traxxas guy but from what i understand there is a clutch inside the t-maxx's tranny that allows the spur gear to spin low rpm's without moving the truck.
springs alone aren't the answer to stopping your truck from bottoming out. stiffer springs will just make the truck really bouncy with the stock shock oil. you need to go to a heaver oil, start at 50wt. and see how it handles.
dunno much about the savers but $4$ the 645mg can't be beat (imo).
we're looking to bash tomorrow if you're interested. we're meeting at a park in somerville 9 - 9:30 in the morning. around 11am my buddy from nh is going to be here so we'll hang in somerville so he can jump some ramps with us and and set up some cones for racing, maybe even some street racing (run whatcha' brung!). then in the afternoon we're planning on hitting the wakefield bmx track and see if anything's going on. if that doesn't work out we'll be looking for another spot to bash but we'll worry about that then.

Maybe we can have a session in wallboys area.

Hey There Y'all,
Sometimes takes me a bit to get back. I'm also not receiving email alerts when there are responses to my messages.
Tuna, I'm from Dracut but most people are more familiar with Lowell. Still looking for some good places to ride. I've been scopin' out some in the area, but nothing great yet.

I have yet to receive my A-arms, I'm very frustrated.
I bought a set of silver alum. front A's from MEGA-RC.COM from this guy, Corbin Grimes, last June. I ordered and received confirmation on a Wednesday, got the parts the next Saturday. Great service, that's why I went to him again.
This time, I ordered the rear A-arms, same silver alum., on Saturday July 29 and received confirmation of payment. Now it's a full 9 days. I fired off an E-Mail at 4:45 pm today, but I got no response. I didn't say anything mean, just asked what was going on. Maybe they forgot my order.
Anywhoo, bash comfirmation still pending. By the way, Quincy is quite a haul for me, about 55 miles. Don't let that dictate where you go, but I probably won't make any Quincy play dates. But Wallboy sounds like he has some great spots!

Hey Dudes!
I bought the CVD conversion kit for my RC10GT today, and it seems like it will make a nice improvement. At least I won't lose anymore dogbones!
My question, although it may not be the right place, is on tires. What do you guys use in the Northeast? I am playing mostly in light grass, hardpack, and sometimes loose sand and am looking for THE BEST tire.
Thanks,

I got my silver rear A arms in the post today!!! The two keeper screws that hold the lower hinge pins in don't fit (wrong thread size). Oh well, screws are cheap and plentiful.

Funny you mention...
My rear a arm has been dangling for so long that at some point, the dogbone went to Heaven. I looked all day to no avail. Also, cheap item, easy fix.......
IF MY FREAKIN LHS HAD ANYTHING MORE THAN HOOD PINS AND ANTENNA TUBES TO SELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you're a "size does matter" guy i'd say run a set of pro-line dirt hawg 40's. they're a good all around tire with a nice profile but you'll pay for the added traction and stability with the added weight. stay away from big joes if you drive your truck. they're way too wide and you will break stuff.
that being said, i ride basically the same terrain except the loose sand. i do a lot of driving at a dusty bmx track and we bring wooden ramps with us where ever we go. most of our bashes evolve around doing stupid stunts so i prefer team losi zombie maxx tires. they might not give the same intimidating stance as the 40's but they have just as good straight line traction. they also balloon nicely (added roll out adds to your top speed) and make the truck very easy to maneuver in the air and they are pretty light for mt tires.

From ramp to back tire hit...22 feet!!! NIIIICE! There are sacrifices. Rear shock tower snapped in two. Ho hum ho hum...buy more parts...install more parts...spend more money...repeat ad nauseum...the saga of a hopeless RC nut!!! ;)

I have been talking for a few weeks with a neighbor who lives several doors down from me. He drives some Associated nitro road car (fast as hell), a 1/18 Associated MT, and he just picked up a Revo. Anyway, he went last week to race/bash at a guys house in Merrimack, NH. Apparently, this guy built a track in his backyard and welcomes all R/Cer's on Tuesday nights. He has the place lit up so they race past sundown. BYOB.
I'll get more info if anyone is interested. Merrimack is one town north of Nashua.

I can't make it this past Wednesday(!). I'm just a few miles away, though, so maybe I'll check Sears out sometime. Although big, open parking lots are a dime a dozen up here.
As for the track in Merrimack, I'd be interested. Lemme know where and when.
Lastly, Bill's Hobby Barn in Salem, NH is starting road racing again. Events will be held at 5 o'clock on Sundays with all fees (first few weeks free, $5 after that) being given back in the form of GC's for the store.
Godspeed my friends. My two brothers, best friend, father, and I are off to go camping for the weekend. We'll be bringing our 4 RC10GT's out for a bit o' fun! My friend's on the edge of buying a 5th, but $900 truck tires last week have put him off for a bit!!

cavv,
Any time my friend, just tell me when.
Why are people so damn impatient. I was Down Town with my wife (in wonderful traffic), there was a dump truck in the far right lane (care of the BIG DIG), I was in the middle lane. This lady was in such a rush to get by me, even though I was in front of her and in the middle lane, she litterally turned into me. I pulled over in front of her (if I didnt I think she would've taken off) and got out to see what the damage was. She got out and started yelling, saying I hit her, then her passenger got out and started cursing at me. That set me off, I told him "no need to get out and start cursing and get back in the car" and I told her "I cant drive, you're the one who turned into me". Now my beast has a nice scuff and a minor dent. What a jerk, I dont understand why everyone is in such a rush. She hit me in the middle of my passenger door and it scuffed back about 2-3 feet, her drivers mirror just folded up. I dont think she didnt see me considering my beast is a 2500HD X-cab, she was driving a Dodge Caravan. Man, I'm pissed :(.
Just thought I would vent a little.
So, how was everyones day today?
Sorry about the last post, probably not the smartest to vent on here.

I just came back from running my savage. It is not running too good. I don't exactly know what it is. It runs but once it sits at idle, it dies then it take a while to get start it again.
But this weekend I might be up for something
cavv
cavv,
hah, I just got in as well, lol. I was running my Storm and Revo. My Storm is running great, can't say the same for my Revo. It ran well for about a lap around the parking lot then sputtered and died. It would'nt start after that. I really need to sit down and tune that bad boy.
I am very impressed with my Storm though, I put a new muffler and header on with a new gasket, man what a difference, that thing flies. I brought my daughter along for a little lesson. She had a great time.
We can work on our trucks and tune them before we run.

WOW!
The EXACT same thing happened to me a few years back on Rte. 20 in Waltham. The right lane was merging into the middle, where I was, and this lady on my right just kept coming and coming. Her mirror hit the side of my truck and scratched it from front fender to rear quarter.
We stop and she starts screaming at ME, dropping the F-bomb like a sailor. She says I hit her trying to pass her.

I go to Hobby Fever all the time on my way home from work. Last three times I've gone, they didn't have the part I needed. I'll keep trying though. As far as knowledgeable sales staff goes, I'd give my vote to Hobby Etc. on Pearl Street in Nashua. Great guys over there!
TunaCan, the shop on RT9 really stick to what they have. Which is Jammin, CEN, Sportwerks, Traxxas and HPI and some other random stuff. Honestly though, I order all of my parts. Everything is too expensive. Heres an example, I saw a set of Robinson spur/clutchbell gear set. They were on Ebay for $31 shipped, the shop on RT9 wanted $44. That aint happinen my friend, I'll wait. I am in no rush to go out bashing, well I am but I can wait, lol. He does have some pretty good deals on some of his buggies and truggies. I may be picking up a truggy tomorrow :), he's also throwing in an extra NEW motor. We'll see if he renigs on that deal. I'll fill you in tomorrow when I get home. i've been to hobby etc and they're my 2nd choice behind hobby fever. i run a couple of savages and a mini-t so hobby fever stocks everything under the sun for either of those. as far as knowledge goes, i do my research. you'll never see me in a hobby shop saying "so what do you guys think i should get for ..." i have my mind made up and the part numbers written down. it's cheaper that way too because you're less likely to make that impulse purchase. you know, go in for glow plugs come out with new tires and wheels, a new body, some shiny stuff ...
I'm the same way zderekv. I have my mind made up before I walk in the door. The shop on RT9 does that, I wanted a set of 2 Wabash wheels, he tried to sell me a set of 4 beadlocks that I didnt want. I am turning more towards the net for everything, its just more convenient for me and a lot less expensive.

Well...
I got another friend to go with and it was pretty cool. I also brought my 4 1/2 year old son. He ran his Mini-T until the battery quit.
We set up a plywood ramp for a jump and had a nice patch of grass for the landing zone. After a while, the boy kept begging me to let him play with my buggy. I finally agreed, with much hesitation, to take turns off the jump. I made sure to dial the throttle down when I handed him the radio. Well, except ONE time when I wasn't paying attention.
I turned my head just in time to see the buggy screaming towards the ramp at full throttle. He hit the ramp at 35+ mph (estimate) and kept the throttle pegged through the jump (I saw the rear wheels expanded like donuts in the air). I've never seen a car go so far! And, he landed it clean, with the throttle still at max, and drove across the street and into the woods. I can't explain why the car did not flip backwards with the throttle on full.
Note to self: buy more mini batteries!!!!
TunaCan,
Nice, sounds like you had a great time. Sounds like Jr is going to take after dad, :).
I have been letting my 11yr old daughter use my 1/8 buggy, she has really gotten that thing under control, not like her Mini-T, she crashed that so many times.

Has anyone seen the Burlington Mall construction going on. There is a huge area where they have all dirt and some pretty sick looking jumps.
INDEED!
I eyeballed the new construction from Rte 128. That looks FUN! As long as the construction workers stay away on weekends, I'd love to hit that place hard. I'll bring my hardhat, and a couple extras, just in case we need to blend in! That big of a job is probably union, no work on weekends.
Your 11 yr old has gone nitro? NICE! :)
It does look sweet, I dropped off my wife when I was going to bash. Thats when I found my broken tank and busted tire. It is pretty nutty in there. Looks like looooooong straights and some pretty nice size jumps. Whenever you are down for it let me know. I'll bring my hard hat to, no one would even
notice us :p.
Yup, my little munchkin has been upgraded to Nitro. She does very well, considering. She used to take her Mini-T out and use one hand, thats why she crashed all the time, lol, it was pretty funny the first couple of times and first couple of control arms, links etc,,,,,,, I let her use my Storm, its a pretty beefy buggy and she seems to like it better than my Revo. I wont let her near my Nemesis or soon to have Jammin X1-CRT Truggy. Plus, its a good starter for her.

Remember when we swapped stories about being sideswiped by ignorant drivers? Well, carbon copy driving home from Sommerville last night. My passenger side now has a crease from tip to tail.
Short version....
Bumper to bumper, 4:00 pm, southbound rte 128 between 3 south exit and Middlesex Trnpk/Rte 3 north exit, cop car with lights on at a disabled vehicle 1/8 mile ahead in breakdown lane, car swings out into breakdown lane to pass everyone and get to exit, sees cop and tries to swerve back into travel lane, right at me, side mirror scraped the entire length of my truck, driver from Georgia with a rental.

i'd like to check out that gravel pit you guys were talking about earlier in the thread. how's that place? is it cool to drive there or will they bust our chops just for being there?
TunaCan,
Thats stinks about your accident. I cant stand ignorant drivers.
I didnt really get a good look at the surrounding area, it was more like a drive by. If its not a safe area to bash we can go to the sand and gravel pit instead. Did you happen to see the lot across from Chilis, there was a drop off that looked pretty nuts. I may have to pull some SWAT super covert under cover construction worker to walk around there. I'll wear my hard hat to, lol.

my daughter's b-day party is on saturday so i'm going to have to head over there on sunday. i know for sure there will be at least 2 of us but i'd be willing to bet it'll be closer to 1/2 a dozen. we'll bring a ramp or 2 and get some good footage for the web.
So, whats the word.
Is there going to be a session today or tomorrow?
I could do either day, heck I might be there both days :)
I am off to go break-in my Truggy

O.K., I'm in!!
I should be at the Pit between 2:30 and 3:00 today (Sat.). I'm bringing the Boy with his Mini-T. I'll also bring some plywood for a ramp. Let me know ASAP if the location changes.
Is this really going to happen? :D :D :D
Anyone else???!!!!!

a couple of us are going to head up to the gravel pit tomorrow (sunday) morning around 9:30ish. we'll have a ramp or 2 with us also. hope to see some of you up there.
Just got back from the pit with TunaCan, we were there for a few hours. Really got my Storm and Revo dirty, I'll be spending some time cleaning them up :(. Man, that sand hill is quite the run, almost made it to the top with my Revo. It got stuck, I had to hike up it to get it, what a steep incline.
I am going to try to make it out to the pits Sunday, its not deffinate.
TunaCan, It was a pleasure meeting you my friend:)

Too bad no one confirmed the location. I told you was going to be around after 4:30pm. :(
I'm sorry cavv:(, thats the only other spot that I have bashed. I thought it was confirmed in another post.
I went through all of my crap on my desk and found your number a little while ago. I will give you a buzz when ever I go out. I appologize, I thought it was all set.

Yeah Cavv, sorry. I said "the Pit" in #204 but I guess I didn't say which pit.
I was surprised as to what the B4 could do. After swapping to a pair of Dirt Works, the B4 went up that 40' sand hill very well. Well, until I came down the back side and dropped 5 feet dead onto the right front wheel. I hit Hobby Fever on the way home and have since replaced the broken hub and ball end.
It was great to meet you Tig! An honest pleasure! Thanks for letting me run your Storm when my ride broke.
If anyone is going to the pit today, look for the tire tracks way up near the top of that monster hill!!! ;)

we were there this morning. i saw some tracks up towards the top. my savy was climbing that thing like it was an ant hill. i'll post up a few clips, like the one of my buddy holding the camera at the top and my savage coming off that lip like a rocket - straight at his face (and my camera). thing shot off the top of that 1st sandy hill and was 4 feet in the air. the only thing stopping it was our video camera -OUCH! makes for good footage though.

I'm near Fall River, MA. Looking for a track, if anyone has news, please post.
I used to go to Taunton (Big Boys Toys), but he closed that at end of 2004 season. I'm gettin' sick of having to drive 2 hours to get to RC Madness in Enfield, or RC Excitement in Fitchburg. Both of them are good tracks, but 2 hours is a hike.......

z,
Thats a great video, you got a lot of great shots. The foot steps up on the hill were mine. I was standing on the sand hill while running my Revo up, it got stuck a few times so I just stayed up there. If I had better tires, it would've made it a lot easier, the stockers worked ok.
What are the plans for this weekend?

i'm a big "maybe" for this weekend. my plan is to head out to western mass and do some downhill mountainbiking but if the weather's gonna be horible i'll wait and do it in a week or 2. i'll know on friday if the trip is going to happen or not. keep it in mind and i'll be in touch because i'll definately be up for sessioning somewhere if the trip falls through.

Looks like you have a heck of a time keeping your Savy's front wheels on the ground. You should add some dead weight to the front. Maybe a T-Maxx? :p :p :p :p :p

that sts28 is a beast. you can get a sick deal on that motor, i got mine with a pull start plus 2 extra pull starts, shipped for less than $150. it eats my buddy's 11 pound t-maxx with a picco maxx26 and he paid like $250 for just the motor.
for the first half of that video i was running about 140 degrees (when it was climbing that sand mound). i keep it pretty rich because the motor makes enough power so why push it any harder. i don't even check temps unless i can hear it running lean or the idle gets irradic. otherwise i just reach down and touch the head to see if it's up to temp. i literally picked my truck up by the cooling head and didn't even get burned. i leaned it out about 1/4 turn and finally got it up to 200 degrees and that's when all hell brakes loose. those ain't wheelie gears either, that's 18/47's. i might try 20/46's next.

Heya Frank, my name is Dave Fraser. I would imagine we met at BBT. Where is the track you mention? I'll go to the web site and see if I can figure it out. RCE and RC Madness are both two hours from me, so I haven't been racing as much as a few years ago..........

It is 8:53pm and I'm watching NESN (Red Sox 1 vs White sox 8 - Top of the 6th). They just aired a clip taped earlier on a HPI Savage running inside Fenway park during practice before the game started. During the clip it was mentioned that a few of the players own these "Nitro trucks" and that one of them brought it to the park today.
Do any of you want to invite them to our next bashing session? :)

there's a park/field in arlington called the farm. it's near a big water tower and across from a school. i know that's kinda vague but if you've been by it you'll know what i'm talking about. it's on eastern ave just off of route 2. if you want to hook up on sunday morning around 10ish let me know and i'll get you some directions.
i'd also be down with some sorta big shindig to end the summer. i've got about 10 - 15 guys that would be interested. i could probably get the dudes from sickhobbies to come down from nh too.
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME

sickhobbies is out of lincoln, nh and he's mainly an online dealer. my homeboy brian will hook you up.
Well, I am out of comission AGAIN.
I might as well give you the update, I really wanted to wait until my Revo was up and running but, I had a unexpected and very disturbing phone call with New Era Models.
I installed RPM arms, ProLine Wabash wheels and Road Rage tires. The BIG deal is, I also installed a Big Block. I used New Eras kit, let me tell you, that was the WRONG choice. Not only is the product junk, there customer service is crap as well.
I called about the throttle link being so flimsy, so flimsy that it would not open the carb. The link literally bent, it was soo weak. He said to go buy another link from DuBro and bend it to the same dimensions as the New Era one and solder them together. That was how he said to resolve that problem. I thought that was too much of a hassle, and shouldve been resolved to begin with before even shipping out any kits. To top that off the exhaust didnt line up either. Frank was very unproffesional and had a short fuse with me pretty much getting defensive after saying the exhaust did not work. To make a long story short, he told me to return with such an atitude. I just about had it I said fine and hung up. He really got me going, if I stayed on the line, we deffinately would have had some choice words. I ended up calling back because I did not know there return policy. I thought I would be able to get an RA#. Well to my surprise, a woman answered, without putting the phone on hold she said "its him, they guy you were on the phone with" he said " that (a bad word) guy, (another bad word) him, he (another bad word) hung up on me". That was said with him not knowing I could hear him. I just said "do you give out any RA# so I can return it. He said just send it to Franks attention. I am absolutely shocked by the service I received from them, I would never buy another product from them again. I would not recommend them to any others either.
Now I have to wait for my Qoncepts BB kit to get, there goes another week:(.
To top that off, I just experienced a runaway RC for the first time. My Storm Pro took off on me and hit a curb at full throttle.
I will be breaking in my Nemesis tomorrow or Sunday. I am going to having RC withdrawels:) if I dont get something running.
zderekv,
could you send me some directions, Thanks buddy

Hey guys,
I was working down in the stoughton area today and I found a nice place to bash. it is kind of a construction site/gravel pit. It is located right on RT138 on the Canton/Stoughton line. If you are going south on Rt 138 it will on your right as soon as you pass the "Town of Stoughton" sign.
cavv123
cavv,
I know where that is, I used to live in Randolph. Isnt there a used car dealer across the street? Its a Sand Gravel and Stone company, BIG area to bash in. Maybe one of these days we can meet down there. Lets try to make some plans.
