Did anyone see the tamiya advertisment in the laste RCCA issue? The pic was of sand with tire marks going off into the distance. It said something was coming in '06(I don't have mag with me, I'm at work). Does anyone know whats coming?

Yeah I saw that add. From the tire size and hints at the footprints, its obviously some type of mini. ;)
I personally hope its a 4WD buggy style mini. If Tamiya comes out with one, we will have enough to have some really nice competition in the 4WD mini class. ;)

TamTech-Gear is Tamiya’s exciting new genre of R/C car; compact-sized off-road buggies. The first release is based on the classic Frog racer, which was one of Tamiya’s most popular buggy designs during the heydays of the off-road R/C hobby. Completely new design features factory-assembled 2WD chassis combined with colorfully-styled machines intended to attract new users into the R/C racing hobby.
About the Model
Compact-sized and ready-to-run 2WD electric R/C off-road buggy
Overall length: 266mm, Overall width: 183mm, Overall height: 90mm
Racing-ready chassis features 4-wheel independent suspension
High efficiency 370 size electric motor, rear wheel drive train and overall lightweight structure provides extended running time of more than 30 minutes with a 7.2V-600mAh Ni-Cd battery
Newly designed small size ESC, reciever and servo (transmitter uses Expec SP)
Full ball bearings for improved transmission efficiency
Polycarbonate body shell features design patterned after Tamiya’s historically popular “Frog” racing buggy

Well, thats what i thought too...but, the tires are different. The sandprints from the tires look like their grasshopper rear tires and other similar buggies.

Its deffinatly 100% without a doubt in my mind the 1/16th tamiya frog. If you see the add there is a little frog coming over the top of the tamiya logo.

Hmmm. I doubt it's the Tamtech Frog, because of the tires. Those look like paddles. And how come it only looks like those are the rear tires? Doesn't look like tank treads to me.
It does sounds like something small though, judging by the tag line "A little goes a long way".
I'm gonna post this over on TC, and see if anyone knows anything.

they match the tread of the grasshopper

Maybe tamiya just did them because they are a more recognized "vintage" tamiya buggy tire. And how many times have you seen ad's or something else in a magazin or on the net that didnt match the final product.
