I have been running my Losi XXX-T spec around loving every minute of it. And I have been using a makeshift ramp, piece of wood on top of recycling bin. Today I built my real ramp, with adjustable height and everything, and I went off it crooked, landed on my back left wheel and snapped my turnbuckle! :( :( This is horrid! Im having a bad week, earlier while making adjustments on my car I ripped my motor tab off my motor. And now I have to save $33 for some lunsford turnbuckles. Oh money wherefore art thou?! Sorry had to vent to those that would understand. Well, my truck will have to collect dust for a lil while. :(

interesting thing, in that line she was saying, why are u romeo, not where are u romeo.

but back to rc's....

the ti turnbuckles are a very important hop up on a xxx, and i would HIGHLY suggest getting the robinson stainless steel or titanuim different people call them different things... ballstuds. i have yet to break one, and i have broken the losi ones, which are $4 a pop.

i know its upsetting that you have to spend another $40 or so, however its the price you pay when you get a kit with such long arms, however the ease of operation defently makes up for it.

however those are the only hop ups that u really need.

however.... if you are planning on doing big jumps i would get a few extra rear pivot plates or the trinity alum one. since when you land lets say on only one of your rear wheels at a funny angle then you are most likely to break it. and i have. on all cars, it does that though. otherwise its great for landing at bad angles with only one front wheel, its actually a very easy car to land.

I too have broken a few of the tie rods on my buggy, the stockers are only 1.50 or something for two, and that will hold you over until you get some Ti. As for the Ti ballstuds, YES! get them! I prefer losi ones, weird that the losi break on you storm, because the robinson and HG break on me, Also, if you are just putting around, i suggest getting some stiffer springs, so that you do not bottom out as much, or get some limiters so you do not hurt your chassis.

Wow...you think you have it bad...ive spent over $250 on broken equipment in the last 4 months. I dont even jump my car(rc10t3ft), unfortunetly i have been jinxed...glitch gremlins are everywhere for me man. Kinda pathetic what you wrote(no offense). hehe...i know how it feals when you cant run your car for so long man...good luck with it.

I also prefer the Losi ballstuds, even though they're expensive. BTW, Lunsford makes them for Losi. As for turnbuckles, go for the new super duty ones from Lunsford. They're thicker and will be a lot tougher. I'm sad to say it, but the rear turnbuckles are a weak point on the XXXT and tend to break when you land how you did (right on that single rear wheel). Even titanium will break; I've broken 2, but Kelly Lunsford gave me 3 new ones for free. He's a great guy, BTW, always helpful. So, if you can, get the super duty ones because they should take more abuse than the skinnier Ti ones.

Yea, my friend leon bought the super Tis from Lunsford, so maybe I can bum one of his stock turnbuckles off of him for the time being. Geez I hate not having a job. Nairb, did you break them on your XXX-T and were they the thick ones or the regular ones? And other than stiffer springer and the aluminum block in back, what do I need to make my truck a jumper? Earlier I got about 4 feet of air off my ramp, just a bit before it broke. I know I am going to keep this truck for a while, and I want parts to last me. Has anyone broken the suspension arms front or rear? If so, is there a company who makes bulky replacements to take abuse? Thanks for answering.

Hey, at least you got your XXX-spec running, first, the rear driveshaft was miscut, so I had to get a new one. And while I was building the diff, a ball popped out and hit me in the head and rolled away. And when I got some new diff balls, he gave me the wrong size. So building is halted for the week.

Yeah, I broke two of the regular Lunsford titanium turnbuckles (Punisher series) in the rear of my XXXT. The first one broke when I jumped off a banked section weird and landed sideways on the left rear wheel. The second time, I was just marshaled on the high-speed sweeper and was waiting for cars to pass before I took off, and one slammed right into the side of me. Both times the turnbuckle snapped right by the inside ball cup.

The best setup for a XXXT is the super duty turnbuckles with short RPM ballcups.

Where can you get the super duty Tis? I only saw the punisher series on Lunsfords' site. Whoknowswho, Im sorry you had all that bad luck in construction. The only bad luck I had and am having construction wise is the stupid hex screws they provide, They hex strips like crazy. Especially the four on the front skid plat and the four on the motor gaurd. As a general setup for jumping, is it better for shock position to be towards the inside our towards the outside? I like them when they are close in cuz they provide good tight handling, which I need for the track I would be racing at. And Nairb how long did it take to get replacements when you broke the two?

I adjust my top shock position for turning, but not for jumping. Don't know that it makes a big difference. For jumping be concerned about shock lengths and consistent build both front and back. Battery position and electronics placement can also have a profound effect on jumping capabilities. Where are you at in Colorado? do you race at MHOR?

I have bent Lunsford Ti turnbuckles in my NXT GP, and bent Ti hinge pins, get steel stuff, the little weight difference doesnt matter even if you race.

E-mail the guys at Lunsford about getting super duty turnbuckles. They're very helpful and will reply fast. How long did it take to get replacements? Oh...I'd say about 20 seconds. :D He (Kelly Lunsford) was at my track for our April Fools Classic. I just gave him the two broken ones and he gave me 3 brand new ones and some titanium screws. He's a great guy.

I live in lil ole aurora, and I plan to race at mhor, my friend does, and I went with him a few weekends back to get some help with my run times (1 minute out of each battery) and so I got some brushes and stuff and got my run time up, and I was going to try and go this weekend, but my stock motor's tabs broke and now my turnbuckle broke. I prolly will email lunsford when I get the money and that way I dont ask him for them now and wait 2 months to buy them. Anyone else have jumping suggestions?
